Iowa Rep. Steve King (left) and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (right), who is running for president, went pheasant hunting in Iowa Saturday.

MERRILL, Iowa -- Rick Perry often waxes eloquent about his wife Anita as the love of his life, but today in Iowa he disclosed to journalists another "long love affair" that has affected him since he was young.

With guns, that is.

"It was a long love affair with a boy and his gun, that turned into a man and his gun, that turned into a man and his son and his daugher and their guns," an orange-and-khaki-clad Perry said of his relationship with firearms before a pheasant hunting trip in northwestern Iowa.

Perry, who took questions from reporters before the shooting expedition with Iowa Rep. Steve King, called family hunting "part of America" and said that teaching children the safety and the mechanics of firearms is "one of the great American traditions."....

Herman Cain thinks the 2nd Amendment is a states rights issue.

Mindreader?

Otherwise, please post some quotes so we can see how pathetically you are distorting the truth.

Thanks for the post, CW. I had read about their hunting trip earlier today but had not seen a picture of that yet. It was nice to see a picture of Governor Perry and Representative King. When you look at that picture, you can them both as just plain ‘ole real people. Wouldn’t see Obama out there looking so real, would you?

Rick Perry-—tuff enuff on guns and the Second Amendment
Rick Perry —— NOT tough enough on protecting us via a border fence, not tough enough on illegal immigration, instate college tuition for illegal alien students is a cynical vote getter

I’ll vote for him but he better wise up and stop being lazy about issues that are serious for Americans. Such as borders and national sovereignty

I’m moving on too - right into Cain’s camp after Perry’s debate where he called Conservative “heartless”.

It’s something that is too big for me to forget.

GO HERMAN!

Perry never said the word heatless. Stop with the quotation marks.

Herman Cain thinks the 2nd Amendment is a states rights issue.

Yeah that bothers me too, but not nearly so much as a POTUS that is antigun and looking to spread federalized gun control. I don't mind so much that he considers it a state issue, since at the state level, many states seem to be moving forward towards more freedom in this area. I read today, New Hampshire seems to be edging towards "Constitutional" carry with no permit required. So that's pretty good. As long as more states complete reciprocity with other states, that's the best solution over a federal reciprocity law. Federal reciprocity would be stalled by the inevitable lawsuits from the antis and using the 10th Amendment against us.

Yeah but it's a Bill of Right. It's not a states issue, it's a right guaranteed by the Constitution.Freedom of Speech, Religion and Assembly is not a States Rights issue. Cain is ignorant of this stuff and to be honest he says what he needs to get his numbers up. He has no compass on this stuff.

It would be VERY interesting in the next debate to ask each candidate:

- Do you support the 2nd Amendment, as written?
- Should the sale/posession/carry of fire arms be regulated at the state level, at all, and therefore be different from state to state?
- Do you have a conceal carry permit, and if so do you believe requiring such a permit is Constitutional, or a "states rights" issue?
- If you believe a conceal carry permit is a "states rights" issue, can states require women and non-whites to obtain a permit to vote?
- Do you personally exercise the 2nd Amendment, and if so, give us a sampling of what you own.

Most candidates would likely fail miserably.

I think you're correct, but I also think that he's using that tactic to keep the antis quiet and attract the left leaning independents who latch on to this issue. I'll bet that if he wins, he will have an astute advisor that will point out to him that the Heller and the other case from Chicago (MacDonald?) put the 2nd Amendment into the incorporated list of rights that are now linked down to the local municipality through the 14th Amendment. He tends to listen to his advisors. At least that's his business record.

You’ve never done the grudge ***k? When you’re angry at your girlfriend or wife, so you take it out on her in bed?

You haven’t yet lived.

And they end up appreciative and exhausted.

Get angry and try it! Unless you are a woman, in which case, anger then seduce your guy!

Can you look at his entire body of work and some of his background?

Sure. I love his main platform now which is ENERGY. Drill baby drill... is something I have been screaming since the 1970s. That would solve nearly ALL of our problems and it can be done very quickly. If the big oil companies want to keep their obscene profits in doing business with OPEC, I'll bet the smaller American companies would band together to build refineries and get the pipeline extended that last 60 mile stretch to get the oil rolling. As soon at an American effort is seriously rolling watch international oil tumble, too. I'll bet we could get this cost of a gallon of gas back down to less than a dollar a gallon. Of course I don't believe in the theory that oil is fossil fuel. Like glo-bull warming it's just a theory. PLEASE HOLD ALL FLAMES HERE! You're not going to change my mind on this with logic or science. For me this is a "God" thing.

My primary objection to Perry is his debating skills. I'm afraid Obozo will simply wipe the floor with him on style and schmooze which unfortunately is the measure by which many people base their vote. It's not like Perry can go after the POTUS with any real sense of conviction on immigration, no matter what he says or how well he says it. Nearly all of the candidates are better debaters than Perry. Especially potent are Cain and Newt.
