The most pervasive sound at Zuccotti Park, and one of the neighbors' biggest complaints, is that of a group of drummers pounding the skins, and organizers now fear their inability to rein in the constant drumming will kill what support they've gotten and move the park's owners to ask police to clear them out. The occupation reached a compromise at its General Assembly on Monday night, with the drummers agreeing to limit their playing to four hours a day (from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.), but it's not the first time the occupiers have reached an agreement on limiting the drumming, and the fear now is that neighbors, already skeptical of the camp's ability to regulate itself, will decide at Tuesday night's meeting of Community Board 1 that they can't put up with it any longer.

I read a piece last night wherein someone did exactly that - sliced the heads of all the drums in one area. The story went on to say that one of the drummers then “petitioned” the group at large for funds to replace the vandalized stuff and was turned down (he was asking $8000!).
I thought it hilarious for two reasons - 1. that the agitators vandalized each others crap, and 2. that the guy would place such a premium on a bunch of plastic buckets.
If this movements heartbeat is some doofus banging a drum at all hours of the day & night then this movement has more in common with a bad case of the runs than anything else.
Counter attack acousticly . Pass out air horns, vuvuzela’s ,bag pipes deliberately out of tune, game calls for foxes( rabbit in distress squealing to the folks living in the neighborhood along with multimillion candle power search lights then have a coordinated serenade of OWS when they are trying to sleep. If that don’t get the message across fire hoses & tear gas will .
