Where there’s smoke there’s usually fire. Only in this case you are betting peoples lives.

Not at all.

A high percentage of people who have traffic accidents during morning commute drink coffee before leaving for work. Does that mean that drinking coffee causes them to have an accident? The two events most certainly correlate.

Correlation does not equal causation.
