We could use a Military Coup here in the USA, RIGHT NOW.

We have The Messiah dictating via Executive Orders, and no one gives a sh#t.....

"Default is inevitable, and not just in Greece."

You might reword to say financial collapse is inevitable, and not just in Greece. Only through such collapse and subsequent pain can our society right itself and its financial affairs. The question of course is the military. Where will they stand and if power is seized, will they relinquish?

It is the same people who now have hundreds of millions of Euros in off-shores and bank deposits in Switzerland and couldn’t care less if this country is going to burn down.

Is that a good idea, keeping your off-shore money in euros?

"The question of course is the military. Where will they stand and if power is seized, will they relinquish?"

Nov. 1, 2011: "In a surprise development, Panos Beglitis, Defence Minister, a close confidante of Mr Papandreou, summoned the chiefs of the army, navy and air-force and announced that they were being replaced by other senior officers."

This thread and current postings don't seem to be aware of yesterday's replacement of Greece's military leadership. I'm certainly not an expert, but the thought that comes to mind is that the Greek government is afraid of a coup. CNBC is so tied to economics and "the market" that they are talking Greek "default", maybe they should be addressing the "political" and considering a possible "coup" and what that would mean from a financial perspective.

Here is the link from yesterday:

Thank you for the update. The events in Europe are
somewhat similar to those of 1914. Just looking for
a spark to ignite the fire.

In other news, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2801422/posts reports the top Greek military leaders were just replaced, perhaps in fear of a coup.

Why don’t they hunt down the country’s elite, the tax evaders, the corrupted politicians, the businessmen and the ship owners who made trillions at the expense of ordinary Greeks?

Because you can't put the air back in the bubble after it pops.

The choice is
- gov’t default on bonds
- confiscate far more wealth from citizens.

Both suck for good reason. Pick one.

Oh, you don’t have a half-million dollars to spare? Guess you’re opting for defaulting on bonds.

I was talking to a young Greek man a few years ago who told me that Greeks all hate the US, they all purport to be communists but don’t really want communism—it’s more a way of showing defiance to “the man” (see also first item)— and they all cheat terribly on their taxes.

Why don’t Brussels technocrats push the government to take money from those who are actually responsible for this tragedy? Why don’t they hunt down the country’s elite, the tax evaders, the corrupted politicians, the businessmen and the ship owners who made trillions at the expense of ordinary Greeks? Why is it logical that the already deprived pensioners and workers have to pay for something they have no share of responsibility in whatsoever, when those who caused it still live in Athens exclusive suburbs, drive Porsche Cayennes, have their kids in expensive private schools and when they are sick they don’t run to overcrowded public hospitals but prefer private clinics that look like five star hotels?

Why is it up to Brussels to cure Greece's own inability/unwillingness to collect taxes from wealthy Greeks living in Greece? Greece's tax collection system is an abomination, but the Greeks have no one but themselves to blame for that.

What if the generals and admirals running the coup are all Democrats?

"What if the generals and admirals running the coup are all Democrats?"

THAT is exactly why we need the current Leaders of the Military (seasoned protectors of Freedom, and believers in God and Country) to clean house in Washington, and get us back to Greatness.

Waiting until the faggots and dykes move to Command positions with the sissy-fying of the Military, it will be too late 10 years from now.

How do you know they aren't Democrats? Colin Powell? Eric Shinseki? Wesley Clark? Barry McCaffery? Wayne Downing? John Shalikashvili. Mike Mullins? Ring any bells?

The mask covering today’s internationalist (Multi-cultural) business ideology slips.

Corporate idiots are supporting corrupt American politicans who permit them access to the US treasury and who stand against the untidiness of the US constitution. That is why they give money to Obammy. Soros is definently a fascist.

What the military coups have done for countries that have them is to clean out the barn every so often. We are experiencing the typical syndrome of all human organizations - gradual but steady deterioration, spoilage, with no mechanism to reverse them. I've seen it happen in corporations. Our government systems on all levels and in all three branches stink! Constitution? Are you kidding? Who's paying any attention to it any more? Dreamers do.
