As Jim Manzi said, millions of people are depending on promises that cannot possibly be kept: municipal pensions, Social Security, Medicare, Greek debt. The list goes on and on.

You might reword to say financial collapse is inevitable, and not just in Greece. Only through such collapse and subsequent pain can our society right itself and its financial affairs. The question of course is the military. Where will they stand and if power is seized, will they relinquish?
