This sounds ridiculous. Years ago when I was 19 years old, I worked as a waitress for Nickerson Farms. One day an unremarkable gentleman came in sat down at the counter and ordered pie and coffee. When finished with the pie he smoked a cigarette.

Like any decent waitress, I kept his coffee cup refilled as I went about the afternoon cleanup work. He talked to me off and on, telling me about the chain of restaurants he owned. He asked me to come with him to California and work in one of his restaurants more than once. I politely declined.

I only remember it because he left me a $10.00 tip. I guess some would consider it harassment. I just considered it another day in the life of a waitress. I had certainly experienced worse. Polite snappy comebacks was the way we always dealt with that sort of stuff back then.
