I don’t know much about this Hate crimes stuff, but I do know there was tremendous National pressure in 2001 when the stuff got passed.
The entire media was in a tiff about them Texans dragging James Bird to his death.
It is my personal opinion that we don’t need laws to micromanage the laws that exist.
The pricks that killed Mr Bird are murderers and worse.
Perry believes the same and he has taken aim at ridiculous legal action with the tort reform.
Right now it’s based on medical lawsuits, but it sets a legal precedence.

I completely agree and I'm convinced that Mr. Bird's murderers would have gotten the same (much deserved) penalty with our without a hate crime charge.

We're just now seeing the tort reform come into play.
Doesn't it impact any lawsuit? I think I heard that the lady who lost the sexual assault lawsuit to KBR had to pay legal fees to KBR based on the new tort laws?
