History Channel Special 'Vietnam in HD' Shows War in Excruciating Detail (Starts Tonight!)
FoxNews ^

In honor of Veterans’ Day, the History Channel is premiering a new, six-hour series, “Vietnam in HD.”

Following the success of its Emmy-winning series, “WWII in HD,” the History Channel’s new documentary focuses on one of the most controversial chapters in U.S. history: the conflict in Vietnam.

Culling thousands of hours of uncensored footage from war correspondents and never-before seen film shot by soldiers on the front lines, “Vietnam in HD” follows firsthand accounts of veterans who served during the conflict in Vietnam.

The footage has been converted into state-of-the art HD, so at times it feels as if one is watching a movie shot in 2011. But the footage is all to real. In often emotional testimony, men and women who served their country during the conflict remember some of Vietnam’s most infamous battles.

Yes read a book called Dak To and them poor guys dealth with alot in November, Task force black which my dad was in, surrounded 7 hrs a company against a battalion of NVA. They held but had alot of Casualties. One Medal Of Honor also. Then there was Hill 875 which will go down in history as one of the worst Battles of the Vietnam war. Two Medal Honors in that battle. One to Father Charles Waters who would not leave his men. And was killed in the Medic station.. God bless you and All the men who fought and died and continue to fight the Vietnam war.

“Sorry.”

Don’t be. And let’s add Dan Blabber to the list of damned, while we are at it.

Will read in more detail later. I’m thinking that LZ Albany was in the book “We Were Soldiers”. Or maybe I read about it elsewhere. I recall the one story of a guy that was wounded and got seperated and was off in the brush somewhere. He could hear the NVA searching out for our survivors and bayonetting them as they cried for mercy.

He spent many days wounded and crawling and somehow made it to a location where he could be rescued.

Back in Jr. High we had a long-term substitute teacher for several months. He was some grunt but had taken lots of photos. I think it was every Friday he would do a slide show from his photos and tell stories. Nothing graphic - just stuff. “Right after this photo was taken we encountered the enemy. Now here is a photo of the bar we would go to...”

You said it and I hope LBJ is in on that card game. I’m crying for the loss of so many of my childhood friends and I respect to my dying day the boys that went over there to fight that damned war with a vicious enemy...and an enemy just as vicious at home. Those reprobates in the streets and those reprobates in WDC! :( God bless our VietNam vets living and passed. They’ll always have a special place in my heart.

The First Hour = The IA DRANG Battle

The IA DRANG Battle in a Valley of Death of 1965 was brilliantly displayed for all to see in ‘VIETNAM in HD’ this evening and even more brilliantly shared from inside his loving heart by Mr. JOSEPH L. GALLOWAY. Thank you, JOE, America needed this and has for 46 years.

Never believe those men died in vain, those men helped to win the Cold War...the Soviets got the message that they weren’t going to be able take over countries one by one without a fight.

However, those who undermined the war effort, have the blood of two million Cambodians on their hands.

I was born in 1971, so I didn’t know jack about Vietnam other than what I was told by the MSM. After watching this, it’s hard to describe what I’m feeling. Rage, sadness, and extreme admiration for starters. This show should be required viewing for all Americans.

Damn every traitor and every coward who snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and got your brothers killed and wounded, not to mention the millions of South Vietnamese and Cambodians who were slaughtered after you left. You guys were incredible. I’m in awe of what you were able to accomplish there under the circumstances you were fighting under.

Happy Veterans’ Day. It’s an honor to be able to communicate with you on this forum. God Bless you all.

Makes me feel like Sam Kinnison in Back to School.

Professor Turgeson: Now, can someone tell me... why, in we pulled our troops out of Vietnam?

Female Student:The failure of Vietnamization to win popular support... caused an ongoing erosion of confidence... in the various American... but illegal... Saigon regimes.

Professor Turgeson: "Is she right? Cause I know that's the popular version of what went on there. And a lot of people like to believe that. I wish I could, but I was there. I wasn't here in a classroom, hoping I was right, thinking about it. I was up to my knees in rice paddies, with guns that didn't work! Going in there, looking for Charlie, slugging it out with him . . . While pussies like you were back here partying, putting headbands on, doing drugs and listening to goddamn Beatles albums. Oh! Oh! Oh!"
