Stop posting if you haven’t read the grand jury report. McQueary told Paterno. Paterno told the AD - Curley. Curley told Schultz. McQueary met with Curley & Schultz. None of them called the police. McQueary & Paterno knew nothing came of their reports. The most Curley told McQueary he would do was take Sandusky’s locker room keys and tell Second Mile. Yet, Sandusky continued to have access to the facilities and the Second Mile charity. McQueary got a coaching job & Paterno & Curley got another decade of Atta Boys.
Curley & Schultz were legally required to call the police about McQueary’s report. They tried to evade the consequences of failing to do so by claiming to the grand jury that McQueary did not report anything of a sexual nature. The grand jury indicted them for perjury.
Phillips and Hyer...they would be 69 or 70 by now.

Sorry Charlie, but he has already admitted that he didn’t do enough to protect the kids, and the Board of Trustees UNANIMOUSLY voted to can him along with that perverted university president of theirs!

Paterno reported “something” to his boss, the AD, who reported “something” to the administrative head of the security dept. The so-called investigation concluded with no charges but Sandusky was allowed to retire, and Paterno just sat on his hands for 9 years. Sandusky still had access to school facilities and underage boys via his foundation during that time and Paterno still just sat on his hands instead of raising the flag on the situation as was his moral obligation to do, at a minimum. Call it what you want - he was an enabler that allowed the crimes to continue due to his inaction while having specific knowledge of the situation (unless McQueary had lied to him, but he also kept McQueary on staff so that isn’t a credible excuse). I wouldn’t be surprised if Sandusky had previously molested McQueary also which would explain some of the hesitancy and delays in getting the rape reported.
Some of the obfuscators here are correct in saying “all the facts aren’t known yet”; that is true, but for Paterno only one fact is necessary to justify his firing - he knew and did nothing (but the legal minimum) to protect those boys being molested and raped! He knew and allowed the continuing coverup on his watch! Good riddance!
There is no doubt in my ex-military mind that if Victim #1’s mother had not created enough of a stink to get a Grand Jury seated, Paterno would still be sitting on his 84 yr old hands and enjoying the adulation of Happy Valley while his prior, long-time assistant was still raping little boys, as if nothing was amiss!

Tie some weights around Paterno and throw him in the river...if he sinks and drowns he's not guilty, if he floats he's a witch.....
So happy you can CAPITALIZE for emphasis, the Board of Trustees don't determine a man's guilt, innocence or level of involvement.
They made a political decision to disassociate themselves from anyone or anything connected or associated with this scandal....
So “Sorry Charlie”, you still have no evidence......but don't let that stop you, it certainly hasn't up to this point....
Yada, yada, yada...but it seems the Big Ten didn’t want Paterno’s name on their trophy either. By the time all of this is over, you naive (or biased) apologists are going to look like fools for failing to recognize the evil and corruption right in front of your noses!

I recognize “evil” just fine, Sandusky acts were evil.
What I also recognize as evil is condeming a man (Paterno) before he has even proferred a explanation or defense. He may be guilty of gross negligence that resulted in the additional child molestations after the initial report.
Time will tell.....
Personally I would agree with you that he should have done a lot more.
I would also agree that you are way more on top of this in going after the injustices here, than I am on this.
What are the chances that this whole story naturally breaks after Penn State's one offweek of the season?
Also what are the chances that it breaks one game after Paterno gets the record for wins?
Granted none of this is as important as stopping offenses like that from taking place.
Maybe this information on the events surrounding the timing of the news has some kind of relevance other than coincidental, I don't know.
Probably not, but possibly so may be the answer there, no idea here.
Sorry, but such “gross negligence” as you allow on Paterno’s part for ignoring the obvious is akin to the initial evil that prompted this scandal! Just saying...

I hear you and don’t disagree, however these players likely were not complicit in the crimes that occurred and can’t be reasonably expected to sacrifice their potential careers in professional football. It’s a conundrum...

I think it is reasonable for the NCAA to cancel all PSU wins for the last nine years to make the point that no such wins coming from that type of depravity in a college program is acceptable! Many here will disagree, but I don’t give a crap!
