Mike McQueary, the assistant Nittany Lions coach who told a grand jury that in 2002 he saw former coach Jerry Sandusky sexually assault a young boy, has been placed on administrative leave. The move was announced by Penn State Interim President Rod Erickson at a news conference that began at 4 p.m.

It didn't work.

They're too busy beating the dead horse.

You give McQueary way too much credit, imo. The reason this is all coming out now is because one of Sandusky’s victims finally ratted him out, and then more came forward. McQueary chose to talk rather than perjure himself because for all he knew, one of those victim witnesses was the one he saw being raped and walked away. The victim could identify him.

No. I'm looking at it from a legal and prosecutorial standpoint. McQ is the key to the case, because otherwise it's the victims' word against Sandusky's. If you've followed enough crime cases, you know that victims' testimony is often not enough.

A cop once told me: a bystander does not even have a moral obligation to report a crime. Naturally, I was shocked and appalled. But if you live long enough, in a corrupt State like PA, you get cured of your simple-minded idealism.

Also, this is "coming out," as you put it, almost 10 years after McQ testified. Clearly he's not responsible for the delay.

Of course you’re right. Every level of education has been corrupted by the left. Penn State is just one very egregious manifestation of it.

No, jerk. You are the one taking cheap shots at the key witness in this case. Have you ever been involved in felony in any capacity, fool? Been a witness? A cop? A prosecutor? You’re a hero in your mind, that’s all.

McQueary is not as bad as Sandusky, but he is not much better. Once he knew who Sandusky was, he did not make sure that he was stopped. He let him continue on raping little boys. Wonder how many more times Sandusky raped that little boy after McQueary failed to step up, wonder how many more boys were subjected to the same after McQueary faild to step up. McQueary is a self-serving coward, imo. How could he even stand to be in the same room as Sandusky, let alone witness him with young boys all the time knowing what he knew knowing that he was continuing with this boy’s charity and as a volunteer football coach of young boys. All the sick bunch at PSU enabled a serial child rapist. Where was the outrage? Where was the stopping at nothing to make sure it was stopped and that justice was done? They all make me sick!

We are all humans with flaws and insecurities. Are you so sure that you would do any better than McQ? If McQ is so bad, then what does it make Paterno, McQ's father, the AD, the VP of Finance, the janitors who witnessed the 2000 incident or any of the victims who grew up to be adults and never cared for the other kids who might become victims after them.

I’d like all Freepers and those good intentioned of Penn State and the media to please pay attention : Are you Man or not, players and students?

Some of this will pertain to expert marksman-ship/ hostage situation:

First, I’m going to preface with some of these terms:

“adika” meaning “wrongfulness of life/act”, ....”poneria” meaning malice, plots, wicked (especially” plotting).....

“phonos” meaning slaughter/murder.....

“dolos” meaning deceit, craft, derived from to “beguile/delude/entrap....

“asunetos” meaning without intellect/mind/wicked....

“naphash”(Hebrew)for re-fresh breath air....and

“adokimos” meaning reprobate (in the context of mind/breath. (psuche/nashash gone)

A. Of believing the witnesses:

1. I’ve said before this is NOT a “scandal” it’s a defined Grand Jury Report CRIME (witnessed testimony Grand Jury Report) not to be repeatedly grouped misleadingly with other “scandals” (i.e. such as OSU tattoo-gate)

2. This Grand Jury report plotting savagery pertains to LITTLE boys. Not college, Not high school, Not middle school,... but vile savagery to grade-school LITTLE boys. Penn State people and others ever been in a GRADE-SCHOOL? Think on that.

3. From the above listed word meanings. At this level of vile savagery we no longer have “human”, not even animal . The above are GONE. Instead “burning” craft/plotting a systematic of plotting of extreme wicked craft to the point of DESTRUCTION threat of life.

IF McQuerey, already sighted by both perpetrator and LITTLE victim, takes action : A real scenario, the perpetrator uses the LITTLE boy as cover (such as grabs the child by the neck, etc.,, escalates the situation risks the lives of BOTH and the LITTLE boy, and we have a real death hostage situation. The ONLY solution at THAT INSTANCE is an expert armed marksman.

Believing the history: the perpetrator being not beyond anything (see above terms), even having a concealed weapon of some device (i.e. knife, etc.,), his own physical size ,etc., The risk of the life of the child.

(Note: I assert that this situation NEVER happens with every student armed and expert trained in marksman-ship with a rifle carrying option (admission requirement). All campus fire-arms computer safety collared (similar to home monitoring), that only become “live-armed” in the presence of a minimal of Twos, from an emergency central campus and police LOCATOR system.

I further assert that the WOMEN would love this now days, would excel in these training classes.

So instead McQuery emergency locator beeps, another student/or officer comes to his side, unlocked-armed.
This is just one example of possibilities are technology should really be working on.)

Regarding Paterno and the now past Penn President: Ponder on this: Peterno gave his after the season notice, instead was terminated...has he written a formal public letter of PROTEST? Does he stated publicly a plan on employment recourse against the current PENN State ADMINISTRATION/TRUSTEES to get his BELOVED coaching position back? Did he state BEFORE this week, that he is through with coaching?

The same goes for the former Penn Pres.

Nebraska should NOT even be thinking about playing, and IF “they” cave, there are players that should either not go or just sit out. Are you a Man or not, players?

Please show where I took a cheap shot at McQueary. (I keep asking these types of questions when someone makes a personal attack but they seem to ignore the request.)

[Also, this is “coming out,” as you put it, almost 10 years after McQ testified. Clearly he’s not responsible for the delay.]

It has not been 10 years since McQ testified. The investigation that lead to the Grand Jury was not even launched until 2009.

Early 2009
An investigation by the Pennsylvania attorney general begins when a Clinton County, Pa., teen boy tells authorities that Sandusky has inappropriately touched him several times over a four-year period.

September 2010
Sandusky retires from day-to-day involvement with The Second Mile, saying he wants to spend more time with family and handle personal matters.

March 2011
Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot-News reports that grand jury is investigating Sandusky on allegations of indecent assault against a teenage boy. The Patriot-News reports that five people with knowledge of the case said the grand jury has been meeting for 18 months and has called witnesses, including Paterno and Curley. Penn State declines comment.

Mike McQueary has a lot to answer for, and obviously his life will never be the same. But he has it immeasurably better that any of the kids who were raped.

That said, if McQueary is as evil as everyone says, why on earth did he say anything at all? He could have just walked away and ignored the situation and saved himself, and probably the university, a whole lot of trouble.

Just observed (at a gas station) lots and lots of people on RT322 to State College. I know the normal crowd level that goes to the games.
This is different, I saw a good many college students from out of state just going to State College just to be there.

Students are going camping/drinking tonight.

Not. The first thing a normal person would do is stop the assault. Instead McCreary, well ovr 20 years of age, runs home to daddy for guidance about what to do. The “what to do” had to do with protecting the institution.

You can twist, turn and spin McCreary’s actions any way you want. This all comes down to morality and intuitively knowing the right thing to do. Apparantly Mc Creary had no concept of the morality concept.

I’m a ‘65 Penn State alum.

Good point!!! I was trying to make that same point with a few other posters earlier.

The truth of the matter is that if McQ was truly evil he could have asked Sandusky to set him up with a boy. Or he could have blackmailed Sandusky for money. But instead he reported the incident and trusted that the folks higher up would seriously investigate it.

McCreary was a grad student. Unless he was some kind of genius he was well over 20 when he observed the rape. Given his response to the event I very much doubt he was a genius.

If all McQ wanted to do was "protect the institution' then why consult his father? Why not just walk away and never report it to anyone.

If all McQ's father wanted to do was 'protect the institution' then why not tell his son to forget about what he saw?

I’m not defending McQueery, just explaining what MAY have been his motivation to do or not do what he did. Not at all trying to say what he should have done, which is obvious.

I posted earlier that after much thought I realized that the game on Saturday should be cancelled. I cannot imagine that at least a few fights will not break out, that no amount of “security” can handle multiple engagements.

It’s just nuts given the emotional positions of all sides. Who in their right mind thinks whis will be a peaceful Saturday afternoon?

Now, I hope I am wrong, but I do not think it will be sweetness and light.

Penn State still does not get it IMO, and God help the people that MIGHT get injured due to this lack of foresight.

As I said, McQueary is undoubtedly culpable. But the braying by some on this thread (and numerous other threads) is bordering on pathological.

Without McQueary I doubt there would be and indictments.
