The idea of everify is good. If there are problems in implementation, those can be worked on. There is no reason it should be a burden on employers. Why should it be any less effective than the NICS system for gun purchases? And using it could be an absolute defense for business owners if all their employees pass.

You know I am more or less a Perry supporter, but the truth is a lot of Pubs, including IMHO Perry, really resist any real enforcement of laws agaisnt employing illegals because a lot of their support comes from businesses that rely on illegals. That’s no longer a viable position, and it’s likely going to cost Perry the election.

The vigilanteman position on border control:

Immediate:

  1. Require e-verify for all employers. If they can do a background check on prospective gun buyers within minutes, they can do the same thing to ensure prospective employees have U.S. Citizenship or legal documents to work here.
  2. End social services freebies for those here illegally with one exception: they can apply for a free one-way bus ticket home if they register, get fingerprinted and pledge to not come here illegally again.
  3. A nationwide Arizona or Alabama type law which requires law enforcement to ask immigration status of anyone stopped for probable cause.
  4. Announcement that a short term residency plan and work permit plan would be unveiled. Priority would be given to nationals of illegal immigrant supplying nations which were cooperative.
  5. Announce that additional legal immigration slots would soon be made available by halting the truly stupid sources of legal immigration such as the Diversity Visa Lottery and admitting UN refugees from countries and cultures hostile to American interests.

    Short-term (first six months):

    1. Announce a limited number of short-term green cards not to exceed eighteen months would be issued to those who applied within a limited time frame, agreed to be fingerprinted and agreed to leave when their time was up. Any attempt to litigate or postpone the exit date would void their agreement. Priority would be given to those who demonstrated actions to become legal. So many points for English proficiency, so many points for paying taxes, so many points for gainful employment history, so many points for community service, being a national of a cooperative country, order of application, a clean legal record, etc. The purpose of this short term plan is not long-term amnesty, but orderly exit.
    2. For those not accepted into the short-term plan, an orderly exit plan would be provided. The first 20% of applicants would be provided with a nice air-conditioned bus ride (or plane ride) home and nice hot box lunch. The second 20% would get a standard bus ride and be distributed cold sack lunches. The third 20% would get a ride home on a rickety bus with snack crackers and cheese whiz. The last 40% would get something even less inviting and those who didn't report would be loaded in a boxcar with straw and sanitation buckets. You get the idea.
    3. Those who properly applied, were properly finger printed and properly exited would be granted a form of amnesty: eligibility to apply and come here legally in the future without their past illegal status being held against them. Those who did not would be ineligible.

      Long-term:

      1. Finish the fence.
      2. Patrol the border.
      3. Enforce the law.
      4. Give priority to legal entrants and orderly exits.
      5. Special enforcement attention and no special rights to gate crashers and line jumpers.

The website means nothing....keep your enemies closer kind of thing.
Ok, What I heard on the video was actually a plan...common sense plan. He said that he did not want Amnesty, he wanted to make sure that when we send back the felons- Mexico put them directly in jail, he said deporting 11+ million people won't work without categorizing them (adults/kids/educated/drugs addicts, etc), he did not want to allow illegals to apply for citizenship 'before' people who are already in line, 'didn't' want the federal government to run this illegal problem (give to visa, MC or AMex), said the comprehensive plans to categorize each type of illegal (educated kids, adults) will speed up the process of deporting or allowing the ones who went to college and were hear as kids to apply for citizenship legally... and to clean up the visa process to make the immigration process faster and easier to disuade illegal activity.

And none of that SEAL the border. Take away jobs through e-verify and laws like Georgia nad ALabama have instituted and suddenly folks go home. What a shock. I still am not voting for Perry

A “leader” that talks like Newt is surrendering to the problem. And he’s encouraging more of it.

The message heard loud and clear outside the border is that Americans are too weak to enforce the law.

That Americans are afraid of hurting the feelings of non-citizens who choose to ignore the law and who create problems for their own children.

We in southern California are directly impacted by the flood of illegals that fools like Newt and Dubya have rewarded for years. The old middle class of California has been replaced by a new imported peasant class, and despite the idiocy coming out of certain Republican quarters they aren’t “natural conservatives”.

Eisenhower was confronted with the same problem when I was a boy and he had the fortitude to tackle it head on.

But then Ike knew which country he belonged to, and it wasn’t Mexico. Ike wasn’t afraid of the press like this current crop of sycophantic GOP losers.

It has already probably cost Perry the nomination. Too many Texans jump to his defense by making ludicrous claims that somehow they are different and the rest of us just don't understand their special status.

Well, the rest of us are chipping in taxes to support social services for their cheap labor and seeing congressional representation being taken away to award them extra electoral weight for their cheap labor. And we're fed up with it.

This will really clear up Newts position on how to handle Illegals. I think he has a good realistic plan:

None of the candidates are going to round up and send all illegals home. None. That just won’t happen.

This is a strawman argument. We don't need to force them out, we just need to stop enticing them in, and stop rewarding them for being here. If they came for work, but find that there is no more work for illegal aliens, they will leave on the same two feet that brought them here.

see Chinese Immigrants Are Fleeing Back To China Because 'The American Dream Is Dead' for how this incentive would work.

So what you propose are exactly what we did all over the country before the early 1960’s and the federal government “took over” and destroyed this type of enforcement.

I’d say 80-90% of the crap we have to deal with today are from stupid things the feds have done since 1964 on so can be changed.

For example, most of the cabinet departments were created in the 70’s like Education and Energy and have failed in their mission and need to be destroyed.

Well, having grown up in SoCal...and living there until '97...I can relate.

Like I said, I don't know the context of his thoughts there. BUT, I do agree we can't deport them ALL.

And that's what I replied to. Words mean things....and ALL means ALL.

Can't imagine that Newt is cowed by the press...at present.

FWIW-

It may be the end of FR should he get the nomination, but no way in hell will I ever support or vote for the abortionist, homosexualist, global warmingist, gun-grabbing, socialist healthcare pushing, big government mandate loving, flop-flopping, lying liberal progressive Keynesian, Mitt Romney.

If it's Mitt and, god forbid, he wins then I predict the following four years on FR will be us writing "Mitt did what? Oh geez, not this moderate left wing crap again"!

I know that is a common belief but it is inaccurate.

Donors to Bush absent for Perry “WASHINGTON — Fewer than one in 10 of the top fundraisers who helped George W. Bush shatter records for presidential campaign money in 2000 and 2004 have donated to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s 2012 presidential campaign, a Houston Chronicle analysis of Federal Election Commission data has found.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney holds a wide lead over other GOP presidential hopefuls in donations received from the 939 “Pioneers” and “Rangers” who raised at least $100,000 each for the Bush presidential efforts.”……

*******************

Disclosure reports show that neither Bob Perry nor his wife have donated to Rick Perry's presidential bid. Bob Perry has given money to other candidates but not to Rick Perry. The biggest recipient is Mitt Romney. Bob Perry and his wife gave a combined $5,000 to Romney's early this year and $500,000 to the super PAC Restore Our Future that supports Romney.

In 2008, they supported Romney's nomination with a $5,000 donation between them. According to disclosure reports Gov Tim Pawlenty received a combined $10,000 to his presidential campaign and another $60,000 to his political action committee from Bob Perry and his wife. Bob Perry is also the top donor to the Karl Rove-linked super PAC American Crossroads

**********************

Establishment GOP is not behind Gov. Perry. Rove-Bush-Hutchison ran a primary challenge against him in 2010 -- Perry was behind Hutchison by 20 points -- beat her on election day by 20 points. Now she and other, dare I say RINOs, have very publicly stated that they will not endorse Perry.

And the feminists, the trial lawyers, environmentalists and teachers unions have stated that they have Rick Perry in their cross-hairs and will do everything to keep him from being elected. They say that because he has taken it out of their hides here in Texas and he will take an even bigger hunk out of their hides when he's in the White House --- and they KNOW it.
