I find this line particularly interesting: ". . . with ties to Idaho."

No one ever says ". . . with ties to Vermont" or ". . . with ties to California"

So what's so special about Idaho?
My answer: they are known for White Separatism and Anti-Government Militia activity, exactly what The Marxists claim The Tea Party is guilty of.

Obviously, a charge of White Separatism isn't going to fly because of his Hispanic name, but a charge of being an Anti-Government Militia member might.

That reference to Idaho has my antennae up.
I am fully expecting this story to be twisted into a Tea Party smear.
