President Obama told people who heckled him at a high school today that he would listen to them, but after he was done with his speech, he walked off stage without addressing them.
Obama was just a few minutes into a jobs address at a high school in Manchester, N.H., when the hecklers interrupted him from the gym floor. Their chant wasnt clear, and the White Houses pool reporter could make out only that they were saying something akin to 'Over 4,000 people protesting.' There were at least 10 of them, the pool said.
After staring at them for nearly half a minute, Obama said, I'm going to be talking about a whole range of things today, and I appreciate you guys making your point.
He then promised them that he would hear them out eventually. Let me make mine, he said. I'll listen to you. You listen to me.
After Obama finished his speech, though, he thanked the crowd and walked off the stage, shaking hands with supporters in the room. Its unclear whether the hecklers made it up front to have a word with him.
