I tend to agree with Newt, a realistic view.

Cutting off the benefits is the way to go I guess.

e-verify, no jobs, no welfare, no free schools, no free ER

Agreed. Partial deportation is more realistic, as well as hefty penalties for employers.

But folks are looking to bludgeon Newt, so don’t expect much thoughtful debate.

Newt did specify that he would seal the boarders before he did anything else. And he said he would deport the new illegal aliens. I don’t agree with the amnesty for all, but I don’t think he will ever get that far. Who the heck are we going to support????? Immigrants that get their medical degrees here, should be required to stay here for a certain number of years.

What about being humane to the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs in the worst economy we have seen in decades?

These jobless Americans will do almost any job these illegals are doing now to survive this tough economy.

Why is Newt protecting the jobs of the these illegals, at the expense of jobless Americans?

Where’s the compassion for legal Americans?

“I tend to agree with Newt, a realistic view.”

Minnesota. Figures. If you had watched SoCal change from American suburbia of the Beach Boys into a suburb of Tijuana then perhaps your opinion of Newt’s “realistic view” would be somewhat different.

I tend to agree with him too. I have supported Rick Perry as an honest Christian candidate, even though he has been thrashed here at FR for his stance on immigration. No one is going to go round up people that have been here for decades and have families here and deport them. It ain’t happening.
Cutting off benefits would get rid of many of those who came just to milk the system.

That comment won’t help Newt with the primary, but it sure helps with the general election and winning over independents.

Yes, I do too. No matter how much the masses hold to the unrealistic view of rounding ‘em up and sending them home, it isnt going to happen....it just isnt. Look, Im a “snipers and mines” at the boarder type of guy, but I think Newt is on point here.
