Did you know that we have 30 million long term illegal residents? The amnesty is completely unworkable. The long term period will be defined so that almost all illegals qualify. The small group not eligible will produce phony documents. Leftist groups will strangle the courts with lawsuits. Compliant judges will issue injunctions to stop enforcement of deportations. Even if Gringrich wants a small amnesty, it will become a major amnesty dwarfing all other amnesties.

We do not need any law changes. We really do not need any more border enforcement although I support more physical barriers and perhasp some additional border resources. We need to enforce existing laws including stopping benefits for illegal aliens. We need an administration that will enforce existing laws and cooperate with states instead of suing them. Cutoff health care, tax credits, housing assistance, and many other forms of welfare.

Leniency can be granted for long term illegals with family through the deportation process. Individuals subject to deportation could provide evidence for amnesty. The burden of proof would be entirely on the detainee. There would not be any general processing of illegals. The deportation process would have a little flexibility to deal with long-term illegals. Conditions could be attached to limit the amnesty add more requirements.

Yep. And then the ACLU will make sure there is "fairness" and "equality" for the rest.

I agree that all the laws need to be enforced including no benefits/welfare etc. for non-citizens. Many will self-deport.

If you add in that anyone who is not a citizen and votes in any of our elections or gets benes/welfare will be immediately deported, you might drastically reduce the enormous vote fraud in this country as well as financial fraud.

Of course, that would require the enforcement of these laws, but if you did, you would find a huge self-deportation and improvement in our economy just from stopping the fraud and consequential drain.

Yep. Especially when they start vouching for each other that they’ve all been here forever.

I fail to see why those who have cheating our system the longest should be the most immune to the supposedly great offense of sending them back to where they belonged all along.

If they didn’t make good enough use of their decades here to be able to do well back where they belong, then it is high time we stop gracing them with special dispensation from the US taxpayer. Toss them back and let some more enterprising immigrants come in legally in their place.
