Midwest, educated, upper middle class accent. The so-called anchor man’s accent. Almost universally recognized as the “true”, most respected and recognized American accent. Basically, the way God would talk.

There is no "midwest" accent. It is more the absence of accent.

Not much of fan of Tom Brokaw’s accent, but like the voices of reporters Keith Morrison and Bill Curtis. They could read menus and make it sound interesting.

The Midwest is home to standard American English--the anchorman accent, as you say. Get away from Pittsburgh but then from Ohio west to, say, Nebraska, Kansas, maybe Colorado, no accent.
