I’ve been tooting Herman’s horn for a long time.

I think in order to surge again he’s going to have to cover another issue. Just one.

The big ol’ out-of-control Federal government and how it has to be cut.

I would advise him to back burner the 999 phase of the campaign. It’s a perfect segue when you’re asked about 999 - well, no tax plan will fix anything if government continues to spend more than it takes in after the tax code changes. How will it help to revamp the tax code if we continue to spend every tax dollar - and then borrow over a trillion more dollars every year - and also spend them ?

The consultants will tell him that all the Federal employees and their unions, other unions, the media, etc., etc., etc., will all attack him. They tell him he will lose votes.

But none of those yahoos are voting for him anyway.

Having a simple message is essential and great for a campaign, but on the other hand you don’t want to become a one-hit-wonder.

IMHO, Cain should trot out all the other things in his plan. You’ve got to have a media splash once a week to gain name recognition. It’s so easy to get the weekly splash - make comments somewhere in front of the press about another item in your plan. But just add in one little phrase that is perfectly defensible but is a real hot phrase that lights up the media. Example: “some public schools are doing great, but in many communities people are disgusted with their schools, absolutely fed up and disgusted - and rightfully so. Some schools should be ashamed. The curriculum, the cost, the liberal bias, teacher performance.” But you’ve got to do your “homework” and be ready to substantiate every claim you make, rock solid. And then ride the wave all week, spouting out your kick-butt views on education (like getting rid of DOE and getting the Feds out of education; as President, just be an education industry inspirer, not hirer.

If you want to get elected, you’ve got to attract media attention - and then when you do, you’ve GOT TO INSPIRE people. Attention: Bachmann and Cain. It’s all about being fervent, stirred up, believing 100% in what you’re saying, and ranting - while at the same time being calm and Presidential (cut down on the word count and policy schmolicy, declare the principles that will become America’s (and the world’s) success). You’ve got to be like Patton. Know what general perspective you have, i.e., how you think and feel about the way we need to shift gears and start operating, then be the leader who’s going to just bulldoze everything in their path and assertively get it done. If you don’t come across as being shocked, bothered and all stirred up by the government trampling the Constitution and bankrupting itself, people don’t see you that way. They just see you as wanting the office. You’ve always got to keep in mind, as well, that you will have to have an “agreement” with the liberal media once elected; they give baseline respect, you give material for them to use to make a living.

IMHO the candidate tone has got to have a “blame the government” feel to it. Along with a very postive “I want every American to actually get ahead” feel to it, like Reagan projected.

That’s why I like Bachmann, she has consistently spoken on many topics over the past 5 years. Every word is towards government getting out of the way of Americans pulling themselves upward.

Invest. Build. Grow.

For Government, the words are:

Pay down debt, Eliminate as much as possible.
