Democrats Bailing on Obama

COMMENTARY | In 2008, a mystery candidate named Barack Obama made history by becoming the first African American president of the United States.

Today, Obama has a record, a very public record, with very real consequences. Among his most notable achievements: the most deficit spending of any president from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, stagnant unemployment, a record number of Americans living below poverty level and dependent on some form of government assistance and the first downgrade of the U.S. credit rating in United States history — all while setting the national record for most rounds of golf played by a sitting president.

Republicans and the tea party tried to warn you. But most didn’t listen. They were too busy chanting Hope and Change and calling anyone who didn’t buy into it a racist. Now, as all those admonitions of economic and social chaos continue to come to ugly fruition, even Congressional Democrats, liberal pundits, pollsters and once rabidly loyal members of the mainstream media are starting to squirm with discomfort.

It’s all about saving face, mind you. They knew the chaos would come too. They just know it’s just getting harder for them to keep spinning three years of failure into a believable success story without looking like a fool. So now, just as Bush loyalists turned on George near the end of his struggling presidency, the most devoted of Obama’s public relations support unit are bailing.

In August, Politico reported Democrat strategist James Carville offering a single word of advice for the struggling president: “Panic.” On Monday, Patrick Caddell, President Carter’s pollster, and Douglas Schoen, who advised President Bill Clinton’s re-election, suggested through an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that it’s time for Obama to “step aside” and give the nomination to Hillary Clinton.

Don’t be fooled. The vast majority will vote straight ticket dem.
Now, I do think Ob has alienated some number of white dems, just not sure how many will bring themselves to vote R.

To vote against Obama - that's a big step for a dem or liberal.
Especially for those who had so much emotional investment in "Hope N' Change".

Hopefully many who cannot take that big step will at least stay home or not cast a vote for the presidential candidate.

I do think Ob has alienated some number of white dems ____________________________________________________________ I've said this before and I say it again. Even the Black vote will not be what it was in 2008 for Obozo. Let me explain why I say that. He has not delivered for the Black Community like they thought he would and many of them are disillusioned and downright pi**ed off at him. The Unemployment rate among Blacks is over 16 percent. The novelty and "the new" has worn off. They've had their Black President and he has not delivered. The excitement over Obozo is gone; they will not empty out the jail houses, the crack houses and the HO houses for Obama like they did in 2008. Just hide and watch.

Wait until they re-elect him.

It’s going to be 55 to 45 precent, 2nd Obama term.

hardcore base + harcore progressives + brilliant, intellectual-genius independents = Obama 2nd term.

IMHO

Right on the money, ND. I've said the same thing many times, and unlike many, I have intimate knowledge of how black Dems are thinking, because most everyone in my family is black, and they're ALL Dems.

I was back home in California for a visit in April of 2010, and the Obama stickers had already come off all of their cars. When we finally had the inevitable political conversation, not a one of them brought up Obama's name. Not one.

They're not quite up to coming right out and condemning the man, but their heart's no longer with him. I wouldn't be surprised if lots of them can't find the umph to drag themselves to the polls next November.

Maybe because this story was originally posted as a commentary by Patricia Campion on Yahoo News (http://news.yahoo.com/democrats-bailing-obama-230600151.html) rather than by Odd Onion (who didn’t even bother to give her credit for writing the article in the first place)?

I heard a caller on talk radio today say that it doesn’t matter who the Republicans nominate, Obama is toast. That’s pure folly. I’ve already seen too many disheveled middle aged white women with Obama 2012 bumper stickers. I never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.....

You are very wise. The movie "Idiocracy" was a documentary.

She’ll vote for him again. They always do.

THere's always the chance that she'll simply not bother to vote at all.

Don’t kid yourself, they all still love obama. Instead of blaming bush, now they blame “the congres”. These idiots will never vote for a repub, ever.
