“Is there any rule that says he must debate Obama?”

Only if he wants the job.

"Guess we’ll have to wait and see which world is right."

I don't have to wait at all. A denial is never "remaining silent" in any rational world.

Two weeks ago I told all there is no way this guy survives this barrage of bimbos...No way...He’s done.

The allegations themselves caused Cain’s demise. It just doesn’t matter how much was true...

The damage is done.

If Cain drops out I’m not sure what I will do. I wouldn’t blame him at all, though.

I can just picture a Perry/Obama debate.

Perry stammers and has stage shock while Obama is stuck repeating the same verses on a broken TOTUS.

I like Perry better on policy but the idea of him debating Obama scares the living hell out of me.

Why? Anyone could out debate Obama. In the end Perry and or Bachmann's candidness shines through over mister teleprompter SOB traitor ultra progressive racist Obama.

Looks like you’re a serial sucker. I’ll bet you’re on a lot of for-sale mailing lists at this point.

No one cares about what his family is going through.

I tried yesterday to tell it from the wives perspective, and was roundly ridiculed.

The heartache that must be in that family is without a doubt made worse by the constant statements and interviews he gives.
If he doesn’t drop out and take care of his family, he certainly doesn’t deserve anyones respect.

He certainly is showing total disrespect for his wife. It will be a miracle if he can keep his family together.

I'm presuming Steyn is on for Rush. Thanks for the heads up. I have to go take a ride and I'll be listening and laughing. He's a brilliant man. Lethal when combined with his humor. (maybe I'll write him in)

“I’ve decided to register as a Democrat. If Obama gets reelected watch for the government to give preferential treatment, healthcare, etc. to anyone with a D after their name. Republicans will be persecuted. I’m not kidding. Of course I will never ever vote D.”

I changed from Republican to Independent two years ago. I live in Mass, where it’s dangerous to be conservative.

“The Dems can put up a guy like Clinton because the left doesn’t care if they have ‘issues’.”

Try explaining that to John Edwards.

A big part of what makes some men rise to the top is ego and daring. That sometimes bleeds over into their personal lives, where it tends not to work out as well.

It’s an occupational hazard. I suspect Cain may hold out for a while, see how the polling goes, and if his Iowa ratings collapse he will probably bail.

For once, I would like to see someone say. Yep, so what.

Clinton.

EXACTLY! Beat me to it.

actually, I think you’re probably correct. When we look back on the election of 2012 from the perspective of say, 2013/2014, we’ll see it didn’t matter because of the bankruptcy of the country and the break down in civil society.

Yes and it will be Perry/Bolton, Perry/Palin or Perry/Bachmann for the win in the end, Alex.

Bachmann is without a shadow of a Doubting Thomas the most conservative candidate left in the race. But she has not projected “likability” to the regular joe voter out there. Can she get her campaign humming along with some personality???????

But we are going to get Romney because it is his turn and the others will be destroyed by the media. Replay of 2008.

Are you kidding? This goes way back before 2008. In '76 it was Reagan's turn (after running twice before). In 88 it was Bush's turn. In '96 it was Dole's turn. In 2000, it was Bush's turn. In 2008, it was McCain's turn.

Republicans apparently stand in line and don't jump the border hoping for a free ride. ;-)

Once Newt gets a full inspection and public rehashing, his boomlet will be done, and then the Tea Party will have to scurry back to Perry or Bachmann. All this just as the primary season actually begins. And there will sit the safe, vetted, presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney.

He's going to win it because the opposition failed to compete. This will send the GOP base into total chaos, with bloggers and talkers and much of the base having to choose between 4 more years of Obama, or a hard swallow of pride.

No telling what will happen. Will be interesting to watch.

Why? Anyone could out debate Obama.

You seem to forget that during the Democrat primary in 2007-2008, Obummer went through a series of debates. He did not do badly.

Perry is simply inarticulate. And if he ever had one of those "can't remember that third department" moments in a debate with Obama, it would be game over.

You really want to bet the very life of our Republic on Perry's debate skills?

Yes, they do. I hate that we have to trash everyone else’s choices in order to make ourselves feel good about the one we have chosen. It isn’t helpful to spam every thread!

It’s bad enough that the media already does that.
