IMHO, his rant about his daughter reflects the fact that even he is ever so slowly starting to “grow up” and be conservative.
He’s about 0.0004% of the way there, but it’s a start.
Left wing thought espouses disrepect for the individual. The individual has no right to what they earn in the eyes of the left wing. The family - which protects it’s own that are “the least among us” - is an institution they despise and work against and seek to replace with the state. And the left advocates state-sponsored immorality, institutionalizing the elimination of any sense of self-respect. They scoff at the idea of self-defense, rendering the individual nothing but a hapless victim dependent on an ambivalent state for his very life. Liberal thought interposes itself between the individual and their personal relationship with God. The list goes on.
It’s only when a liberal takes great pain and personal sacrifice to raise a child who then turns to being ungrateful and disrespectful that they get kicked by the liberal principles that they are so invested in. Even though Alex is rich, he certainly knows that he and this daughter have things a lot easier than most and it is natural to see this more clearly than a child can. And even though he may not publicly subscribe to “honor thy father and thy mother”, he can’t help but understand it’s direct benefits.
But can he admit that he’s been wrong all along about so many other issues ? Everything he has is based on the liberal entertainment industry and it’s mantras. I hope he can get past the confused thought of the left.
