they need to think a long time before closing that center - the knowledge base those guys have is broad - in most companies, when a big problem arises, it can take the nerds a long time to isolate the real problem and notify the right nerd to fix it - most network nerds don't have a clue about database systems and connections not do the dbas have a clue about the applications that use their databases

it can take forever just to identify the real problem because not many have an overview of what resources are needed and how they work together - there might be a wealth of knowledge in a problem reporting system, but when the fan has been hit, no one has 6 hours to read old problem tickets

when that knowledge is gone, it takes forever to bebuild - they should pay the higher lease - its a bargain
