Used to ride to work on Metro Rail ~ always this lady up front on the first car on the first train to DC in the morning ~ riding her fancy electrified wheelchair with racing slicks.

It barely fit, but when she got downtown she could make it across the street before the light turned red.

One day I encountered her in WalMart and she was in a more prosaic electric wheelchair. She said she'd given up her fancy wheels when she retired and now she needed something more appropriate to home use.

From her experience and this gentleman's request I suppose wheelchair bound people KNOW what they can handle even if others can't ~ and it's not just the racing stripes that attracts them to the bigger models.

I bought my own. I needed something that would fit in the car trunk but still be sturdy enough to take some serious use. Mine breaks down to 4 pieces without tools, works great in town and will handle grassy fields O.K.
