What’s the big deal here. I have a couple of credit cards but usually pay cash. Paid cash for my new Lincoln too.

That’s smart. But you obviously have ‘lines of credit’ with your credit cards. Whatever they would lend you, should you choose to use them, is your ‘line of credit’ with the credit card companies. Just because someone has a line of credit doesn’t mean s/he has to use any of it, much less its max.
So the Gingriches have a $500K line of credit w/Tiffany’s. If they purchase $100K of Tiffany products, their available credit is down to $400K till they pay the $100K. Or it could go months or even years without being used at all. All that says is that Tiffany’s thinks they’re good for the $500K. Doesn’t mean they’re ‘in hock’ to them for that amount.
