Statement by Gov. Rick Perry on Obama Administration’s Use of Gay Rights to Make Foreign Aid Decisions

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement:

“Just when you thought Barack Obama couldn’t get any more out of touch with America’s values, AP reports his administration wants to make foreign aid decisions based on gay rights.

“This administration’s war on traditional American values must stop.

“I have proposed a foreign aid budget that starts at zero. From that zero baseline, we will consider aid requests based solely on America’s national security interests. Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.

“But there is a troubling trend here beyond the national security nonsense inherent in this silly idea. This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many Americas of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong.

“President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles. I will not make that mistake.”

Obama making decisions on foreign aid based on acceptance of homosexuality? Given his penchant for supporting radical Islam, the cognitive dissonance should end up making his head explode.

Of course, this is much more likely to be a "talking point" designed for the campaign trail.

AMEN! I hope he, Bachmann, or Santorum can pick up some momentum here int he next few weeks and take out the elitists’ top choices. I’d take Romney over Newt, I’m beginning to think, after hearing more from Newt. Egads!

It seems that way, doesn’t it.

It infuriates me that the media is totally ignoring Rick Perry.

They’re afraid to speak his name these days.

What is this? Sold on Newt? Sold on Romney?

Mrs. Romney was on Fox this morning. She seems like a nice lady, but why not have Anita Perry on?

Rick Perry believes all the right things, has done all the right things and says all the right things.

He has no disqualifying stuff in his background but does have a proven conservative record.

I’m definitely giving Perry a strong second look.

Same here. I bet Newt will now have something to say about this, and I can't wait to see the contrast between the two on this issue, if any.

I am getting to the point that if gingrich or romney ends up with the nomination, I am going to write in Tim Tebow!!!****
LOL

Well, if there’s anything I’ve learned over the past 6 or 7 weeks it’s that anyone who underestimates Tebow does so at their own risk. And the MSM for sure hates Tebow even more than your run of the mill conservative.

Tebow for President!

I would not worry about Perry being derailed by some sort of made-up accusations.

He’s been in the public eye too long.

The dems and the media in Texas hate him and they’ve been scrounging around in his closet for skeletons for years and haven’t found a thing.

I would not have heard about this unless Shield posted it. Perry speaks for a super majority of Americans: Foreign aid baseline starts at 0 and no special treatment for homosexuals.

I think Hillary is out in front of the gay foreign aid idea. I believe I read a story on Drudge and just shook my head.

The Republican party wants to play nice with Obama. Perry is taking the battle right to him instead. I like that about him.

Allbaugh is not ready for Perry to have a target on his back.

Perry bought a lot of ads on FNC to air nationally so Fox has to literally count the number of times they mention Perry in the Magazine shows. They can cover him as news all they want but in opinion shows they have to pull back because of equal time rules. The Perry camp would have known this when he bought the Ad time.

Hannity says he wants Perry to get elected and FNC is selling air time to Perry then the rest of the field can go after Fox for violating the equal time laws. So they are covering their butts by limiting how often they promote him as a candidate.

Perry wants to control the messaging more than trusting the bloviators.

This isn’t the only good policy Perry has expounded upon. But the message sure needs to get out there. I have never, ever seen anything like this.

For how long? It was his appearances as HIMSELF that got my attention in the first place. I told you then, I was seeing a better candidate than he was right out of the box.

Perry bought those ads after his fake brain freeze in that debate. When he was on those programs and several FNC programs is when he purchased them.

It’s an incredible disappointment to me that Gov. Perry didn’t do good in the debates. When he first announced, I thought surely he’d waltz to the nomination. Sigh.

Nobody is hearing this, shield. ANY of it.

Well, not exactly true. I heard it this morning here in Los Angeles on KFI radio where the thoroughly disgusting Bill Handel and his crew mocked Perry for his comments on Obama's gay foreign policy.
