WASHINGTON -- U. S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Lake Stevens, sacked three young legislative aides Thursday, barely an hour after learning of the trio's stream of indiscreet tweets filled with references to hangovers, idling on the job and, not least, their "idiot boss."

There's only one thing worse than people believing a lie about you. And that's people learning the truth about you.

“Idiot boss.”

LOL! I would say it’s not just the boss.

Still, "Idiot Boss", he finally builds a staff that knows what he's about so he fires them.

Does he imagine that will improve constituent services?

Regardless of what you think about the "boss", these former aides learned a valuable lesson: you don't announce your indiscretions in the workplace to the world.

And you never, ever, criticize your boss in public unless you expect to be fired.

Larsen would have been ok with the three staffers screwing the pooch on the taxpayer’s dime, but telling the truth about his lack of intellect was the clincher.

Well, Rick Larsen is an idiot! I hope that Greg Anders, the son of Apollo 8 astronaut William Anders, wins the seat next year. Anders would be an excellent choice for the 2nd District.

so he can read , oh wait, maybe someone told him

My mother worked on the “Hill” back in the late 1930s as a secretary to a committee. There was a congressman from Boston she knew who was completely illiterate. “Ah, Rilla,” he once said to her. ”It must be a marvelous thing to be able to read.”

Seems that these are college kids that got their position through whom their parent knew. Instead of firing them, the congressman should fire his office manager and hire a competent one...better PR, any way.

LOL. The young aides might have been stupid to Tweet such things, especially about their boss. However, now that they have been fired...imagine what they will be free to say about him. I am sure it will be more than just that he is an “idiot.” We might really hear some goodies from them. Can’t wait!

“Seems that these are college kids that got their position through whom their parent knew”

A survey of Capitol Hill staffers under 30 would likely reveal that 80-90% were hired as a result of family contacts. The pay is horrible, doesn’t even afford their living in DC, but it’s a resume piece that future employers will pay well for, regardless of how low level the job.

There was a post titled “Don’t Be A Dick” further up the page. Too late for Rick. He is and he is.

In the years I was living in Shoreline, I got to know Rick Larsen in my work with passenger rail advocacy. Rick was a major liberal, but he was an honest liberal, and I came to respect him. I knew him on a first name basis and had lunch with him and Elizabeth Robbee in Everett -- it seems like a lifetime ago.

That Rick fired the slackers on his team doesn't surprise me. He struck me as that type. But I didn't expect Elizabeth to be one of them. She seemed to be really on the ball when I met her in Everett and the Mount Vernon Station dedication. But if she screwed up like that, she needed to go.
