CBS poll: 54% say Obama doesn’t deserve re-election
Hot Air ^ | DECEMBER 7, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

News of the CBS poll dropped while I was driving yesterday evening to Des Moines to cover tonight’s Republican debate, and in looking at the figures this morning, the White House has to be happy this came out on a Friday night. Despite a three-month strategy to claim the moral high ground through class warfare, not-so-coincidentally occurring with labor-backed protests in most major cities, Barack Obama’s approval numbers have not changed much at all. The latest CBS survey shows his job approval under water at 44/46, but that’s not the worst part of the poll results for the President:

Less than one year out from Election Day 2012, voters remain overwhelmingly pessimistic about the economy, and their concerns are taking a toll on President Obama’s re-election chances. Just 41 percent of Americans think Mr. Obama has performed his job well enough to be elected to a second term, whereas 54 percent don’t think so.

The president’s overall approval rating remains in the mid-40′s, according to a CBS News poll – lower than the approval ratings of Mr. Obama’s four presidential predecessors at this point in their first terms. Mr. Obama’s approval rating is dragged down by his poor marks for his handling of the economy – which, at 33 percent, is the lowest rating of his presidency in CBS News polls.

But Newt would lose terribly to Obama. I cannot for the life of me understand why we have such pathetic candidates.

Only superior performance as CinC in war can turn around 54% set against your re-election. That number does not move easily.

Make the poll likely voters and the number is probably closer to 60%.

That is such BS. Age and guile beat youth and a good haircut every time. If the country’s stupid enough to re-elect Obama,
I refuse to admit I’m an American citizen.

Those people could live through a firebombing of Dresden-type event courtesy of 0bama and still vote for Dear Reader.

You know, maybe 50% of the 46% are functionally illiterate and just pick out number #2 on the ballot or something.

CBS poll: 54% say Obama doesn’t deserve re-election

46% didn't say "Obama doesn’t deserve re-election", and 47% didn't pay taxes last year. A coincidence?

These overall ratings don't translate easily into election results, but they do convey a sense of the nation's mood and atmosphere. For Obama, that atmosphere is getting toxic.

The fact is, with the exception of the FDR era on the heels of the Great Depression, when he ran against "the malefactors of great wealth," class warfare has never been a very strong political weapon in America.

Obama is planning and setting up to run against Wall Street and the 1%ers next year, but he will have a rough uphill climb if he does.

This election is ours to lose.

Newt is running even with Obama in major states. You are ill-informed and letting your ignorance cripple your judgment.

I’m plenty informed. Generic republican consistently schools Newt in the polls. Quit believing just what you want to see happen. Newt is the best we have, and that is amazingly pathetic.

This should be a landslide republican victory, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Newt loses to 0.

Considering the source of the poll I’m of the opinion that much more than 54% think he doesn’t deserve re-election.

If there ever was an indication of how far the US electorate has fallen (except for the actual election of this arrogant turd in the first place) is that only 54% feel he shouldn’t be re-elected.

After all the havoc he has wreaked with this country, it is only 54%, according to the source.
