I always thought she was a believer in a God of salvation through Jesus.

Not "a" God, but THE one true God of the Bible.

There is only one God.

I won’t argue over your emphasis on “the” over “a”. It’s ok with me.

I am no longer sure she is a believer in “the” God of salvation through Jesus.
