Coulter is actually getting on someone’s case about speaking bombastically? Has she never heard herself speak?
Ann’s use of “bombastic” as an epithet against Newt or anyone else is hilarious. That’s been her stock in trade, as if she owned the word.
Imagine if it had been Mitt who’d said the Palestinians were an ‘invented people’ and Newt said, oh, no, you don’t say things like that’ you have to clear it through Bibi and diplomatic channels. Ann, in her dotage, seems to like timid instead of bombastic. What a turnaround.
Coulter isn’t running for president; Newt is. Bombastic doesn’t work except for Democrats. He can’t keep control of his mouth and his marital history suggests that isn’t the only thing he can’t keep control of.
I remember quite well when he was Speaker. He was one of the most unpopular political figures in America. He was on the cover of Time or Newsweek as the “Grinch who Stole Christmas.” He lost the public opinion war with Clinton during the government shutdown.
She’s right. He’s an unpleasant, self-important, bombastic windbag. Now that he’s facing some criticism, the nasty Newt is emerging. Expect to see more of it. That kind of personality doesn’t win the White House.
