In a Rasmussen poll released on Monday- "Romney with 45% of the vote to Obama’s 42%. Even Ron Paul was polling only 8 pts behind Obama. I said it before and I will say it again Newt is not going to get the women's vote.

A lot of indies (and some GOPers) that I know have told me that they would not vote for Newt.

Look for the Dems to flood the GOP primaries with Newt votes.

The general electorate isn't even paying attention right now. Only a limited percentage of Republicans are paying attention right now. Most of these decision are made during the last month of any election.

These X versus Obama polls are absolutely meaningless and only the gullible are paying attention--or those with an ulterior motive.

October 26, 1980 Jimmy Carter led Ronald Reagan in the Gallop poll 47-39 and the average of the polls had the race neck and neck for the weeks leading up to the election at best.

Ronald Reagan won that election 51% to Carters 41% and Anderson's 7%.

LOL! Yeah, polls a year out from the election have a lot of meaning.

You realize that Obama vs. Generic or Obama vs. X polls have no real meaning at this juncture... And they won’t until an actual candidate becomes the nominee, and the general election campaign begins.

Polls like this serve only one purpose. Create perceptions/narratives that can influence outcomes. They are not about reporting the news. They are about making it. It doesn’t matter who candidate X is. These polls will be used by media and establishment types to push one candidate over another. If for nothing else, the media likes them because they make for great headlines, help fill up air time of 24/7 news outlets, and provide words to fill pages of worthless papers/magazines.

What about coattails, guys? It might be worth taking a chance on the obviously more conservative candidate in order to turn out more conservatives to the polls for the down-ticket elections. Who is Romney going to bring to the polls? We’ll attract a lot of squishy liberals and moderates who might vote for Romney because they’re disappointed with Obama, but then vote in their old liberal congressmen and senators. We’re better off with Obama and a very conservative Congress than a RINO and a liberal Congress who has a history of caving into a liberal legislature.

Not to mention, Newt DID usher in the 1994 revolution. How can we not think he might again have the ability to usher in another changeover in the Senate that we desperately need to overturn Obamacare?

There’s no question in my mind that we need to double-down and go with Newt to maximize potential conservative turn-out for the down-ticket elections. Don’t try to tell me Newt is a RINO, there is going to be a huge and obvious difference between Newt and Obama.

These polls so early are pure BS speculation. We have not even nominated anybody yet. Wait until we actually pick a nominee and you will the poll numbers change radically. Barry is going down next year.

I think most of us guys will be able to vote for Newt. We will say OK maybe he's changed, maybe he's not; maybe he's still a hack, maybe he's not, but he's still infinitely better than the other guy.

I think most women will look at him, then look at Callista and not go anywhere near his button on the ballot.

OK, so the national poll of likely voters puts Obama over Gingrich.

But, consider: We don’t have to win in New York or California.

Newt just needs to win back swing states by taking a little more than half of what Obumjob won last time.

The swing states are polling against the commie in chief.

It will be Newt vs Twit. Voters will wise up.

Welcome to the United Soviet States of America..where the Pravda State Media “vet” the candidates to the pleasure and needs of the RinoCrat UniParty.

This “election” will be a non-election...featuring the state approved “candidates”-whose only distinction is whether they are black or white.

Once Newt wins nomination and starts focusing in on Obama — these numbers will change. Unless the general public is completely brain dead, they’ll eventually understand why Newt is much more qualified to be President than Obama ever was. The Republicans still have to make the case to replace Obama (which is sad to begin with) and there is nobody better to make the case than Newt.

Newt would get this woman’s vote because I believe the Republic is in danger. He won’t get the vote of women who prioritize watching E & the Lifetime Channel.

There is still a fair amount of social pressure on women to hide their intellect and confine their discourse to superficial topics. That was a fear in giving women the vote. And look what’s happened since we got it. My own mother has long supported Romney because he is handsome & is married to his first wife. She doesn’t inform herself about his positions.

Somehow I think that all these polls are propaganda polls, designed to give us the wisdom that voting for anyone but Romney will be disatrous for us. Any one else?

This is crap.

National opinion polls continue to show Carter leading Reagan by an apparently comfortable margin of about 25%.

Not a Newt fan,but man is this discouraging. The fact that Comrade Zero could poll almost 50% against anything up to and including a cockroach makes me wonder what the hell has happened to this country.
