Khan may or may not be Muslim, but there certainly was one main character. Dr. Bashir in DS9, who was played by Alexander Siddig/ Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi . Alex's paternal uncle is Sudanese Prime minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. They are both descended from Muhammad Ahmad, the "Mahdi" who revolted against the British in Sudan and defeated General "Chinese" Gordon at Khartoum. Fortunately the British under General Kitchener (nasty bugger) slaughtered the Jihadis at the Battle of Omdurman.

Surely you’re aware of the old joke about Star Trek, which is probably at the heart of this discussion about no muslims in Star Trek. Goes something like this...

One night in a bar, a guy is asking his buddy “how come there are no muslims in Star Trek?”. His buddy responds “because it takes place in the future long after they’re wiped out”.

I think the story about Khan was about a genetics war in the 1990s where the world was almost destroyed before Khan and his followers were put into cryo-sleep on a spaceship. Anyway, if there’s a huge world war in our time, maybe all the muslims get wiped out and mankind will then have peace on Earth in the future (well, at least in fictional Star Trek stories).
