Ann Coulter: I Would Prefer Ron Paul Over Newt Gingrich
ology.com ^ | 12/20/2011 | Noah Rothman

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Red Eye” last night, conservative firebrand and frequent courter of controversy, Ann Coulter told the panel that if the choice for the Republican presidential nominee came down to Texas Rep. Ron Paul or former House Speaker Newt Gingrich she would prefer Paul.

She stops short of suggesting that she would vote for Paul in a third party bid as conservative radio host Glenn Beck recently suggested, but Coulter has serious reservations (like most editorial board GOPers) about Gingrich’s big government conservatism.

While Coulter curries much favor among the Tea Party Republican set, not all who are inclined to agree with her combative Republicanism agree with her.

Popular conservative columnist Joshua Treviño took to Twitter to echo the sentiments of many in the Republican establishment when he colorfully expressed his reservations about Paul’s untraditional foreign policy perspectives.

"Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Red Eye” last night, conservative firebrand and frequent courter of controversy, Ann Coulter........"

There is nothing conservative about her!! She writes books to make the cash - but is a liberal at heart.

I can't stand her anymore. Acting like a 'know it all' & saying you're a conservative does not make you one. She's really a Romney backer & saying the Ron Paul stuff to get some more face time.

Coulter has serious reservations ... about Gingrich’s big government conservatism.

Romney's big government statism, on the other hand ... is okay by her.

I would prefer that Ann wouldn’t even be featured on Foxnews because her opinions don’t amount to a hill of beans.

She also said she would support Hillary over McCain in 2008.

Why do people listen to her?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I stopped reading her and haven't watched even a minute of her since she called the Article 2 Section1 defenders “CRANKS” and then used the KKK to further drive home her sharp point. Some things are deal killers.

Since then, every few months or so, Coulter makes some comment that justifies my belief that she has completely “jumped the shark”!

Sorry, Mitt Twits lack conservative credibility, and their opinions about candidates are worthless.

I am with you. What has she accomplished in her life that makes her someone I would take advise off of? She produces books. She is a political pundit that is attractive and used to be conservative. I take her opinion no more than Paris Hilton.

Ron Paul's positons.

Abortion:

“I am strongly pro-life. I think one of the most disastrous rulings of this century was Roe versus Wade. I do believe in the slippery slope theory. I believe that if people are careless and casual about life at the beginning of life, we will be careless and casual about life at the end. Abortion leads to euthanasia. I believe that.” “As an O.B. doctor of thirty years, and having delivered 4,000 babies, I can assure you life begins at conception. I am legally responsible for the unborn, no matter what I do, so there’s a legal life there. The unborn has inheritance rights, and if there’s an injury or a killing, there is a legal entity. There is no doubt about it.”“As a Congressman, I’ve never voted for any budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood. Instead, I’ve introduced the Taxpayers’ Freedom of Conscience Act to cut off all taxpayer funding of abortions, so-called “family planning” services and international abortionists.”

Separation of Church and State

“The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers. On the contrary, our Founders’ political views were strongly informed by their religious beliefs.”

Affirmative Action

“All rights are individuals. We do not get our rights because we belong to a group. Whether it’s homosexuals, women, minorities, it leads us astray. You don’t get your rights belonging to your group. A group can’t force themselves on anybody else. So there should be no affirmative action for any group.”“The concept of equal pay for equal work is not only an impossible task, it can only be accomplished with the total rejection of the idea of the voluntary contract. The idea that a businessman must hire anyone and is prevented from firing anyone for any reason he chooses, and in the name of rights, is a clear indication that the basic concept of a free society has been lost.”

Immigration

More and more of my constituents are asking me when Congress will address the problem of illegal immigration. The public correctly perceives that neither political party has the courage to do what is necessary to prevent further erosion of both our border security and our national identity.

Second Amendment

"Mr. Speaker, I rise today as a firm believer in the Second amendment and an opponent of all federal gun laws. In fact, I have introduced legislation, the Second Amendment Restoration Act (HR 153), which repeals misguided federal gun control laws such as the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban. I believe the Second amendment is one of the foundations of our constitutional liberties. Specifically, my legislation repeals the five-day waiting period and the "instant" background check, which enables the federal government to compile a database of every gun owner in America. My legislation also repeals the misnamed ban on "semi-automatic" weapons, which bans entire class of firearms for no conceivable reason beside the desire of demagogic politicians to appear tough on crime. Finally, my bill amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 by deleting the "sporting purposes" test, which allows the Treasury Secretary to infringe on second amendment rights by classifying a firearm (handgun, rifle, shotgun) as a "destructive device" simply because the Secretary believes the gun to be "non-sporting."

Yep, clearly a liberal... /s

Who would buy them now?

Good Conservatives will not and they have the money.

Liberals/occupiers/welfare can't buy them, they have no money.

She has sold her soul.

I don't anymore, irrevelant.

Just a thought of her hatred for NEWT, perhaps it is because HE has all the ideas, and she would not have anything more to write about.

But Annie just loves worse big government non-conservatism from Romney?! Ann is so out to lunch on this one. I don't understand it.

Ron Paul!?! Sure he is great on the Fed and monetary policy. However he is so far out in left field on foreign policy that it discounts any credibility he has on domestic issues. And she releases this on the same day a newsletter from Paul comes out full of truther nonsense.
