Total non sequitur . . .

I think I’ve figured out this Ron Paul surge. Of course there are some “conservatives” and libertarians who support him. Why, I don’t know, but here we are—maybe because no serious conservative candidate managed a strong showing.

But my belief is that he’s being largely funded and fueled by Democrats—and I think the Obama re-election campaign. So, Paul wins Iowa, then is shunned by the GOP Establishment.

His kooky but well-organized followers whip up anger against the GOP, which results in either a formal third party campaign by Paul, or a “grassroots” write-in campaign, or a “I’m-so-mad-I’m-staying home” effort.

Obama wins by default.

Just my theory.

CC 27 and I discussed the same possiblity eons ago, but then quickly thought we were being paranoid....however, it does make logical sense. He’d be Obama’s Perot.

Ron Paul gets all the pot smokers who want it legalized, that’s all. They’d jump ship for a outspoken Democrat on legalizing dope in a second, most are not typical Republican voters.
