The only two things that can be held against him was his support (via pressure from the GOP establishment) of Specter over Toomey in the 2004 Republican primaries in Pa. And his big loss for re-election in 2006.
And frankly, based on how Toomey has performed early on (not great--supported the repeal of DADT), that fault looks smaller and smaller in retrospect.

I don’t know, I think Toomey is a pretty solid conservative who helped to author a pretty good sentate bill for reducing the deficit. The DADT statements was just an admission of reality unfortunately. In any case, he is infinitely better than Specter.
