Romney sidesteps tax dispute; Gingrich dives in

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — With Washington deadlocked, Mitt Romney refused to say Wednesday whether Congress should approve a short-term payroll tax cut extension for 160 million workers — the latest pressing policy debate the Republican presidential hopeful has sidestepped. Rival Newt Gingrich, in contrast, castigated Congress for "an absurd dereliction of duty."

"I'm not going to get into the back-and-forth on the congressional sausage-making process," Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, said in Keene, N.H., as the day began. "I hope they're able to sit down and work out a solution that works for the American people. My hope is that the solution includes extension of the payroll tax holiday."

But Romney refused to say how long the extension should be — a key issue in the Washington gridlock.

Halfway across the country in Iowa, Gingrich called a two-month extension "insufficient" and scolded the Democratic-controlled Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama's administration for "lurching from failure to failure" and marveled: "They can't figure out how to pass a one-year extension, so the Senate leaves town?"

Isn’t Newt the one to shut down the government? I don’t know what he has against this. He was for it in 1995.....strange.

The next thing you know, some rat will accuse Newt of shutting down the government in 1995.

Newt is wrong. The Obama “tax cut” is slanted to avoid giving any cuts to people on Social Security or investment income, while giving more freebies to low income people who pay no taxes.

Plus, Obama will boast about HIS special prezzie to the people from now until election day, and no Republican will get any credit for caving in to him.

I approve of the two month tax-cut. They should tell Obama that they will NOT extend it unless the pipleline project is approved, as it should be.

Mitt is playing dodgeball, and Newt is WRONG. He is a jerk, more concerned about making political points than benefiting the country.

Screw extending the payroll tax cut. I say reinstate it and cut marginal tax rates across the board by 2% for all those making less than $110K.....and make it permanent. This way the sponges don’t see anymore money and those who pay federal income tax keep more of their money.

I do not like Romney but Newt helped pass a lot of NWO legislation with Bill Clinton like:

Here are just a few:
While in the House - Newt voted for:
1. Creation of the Dept of Education - something communists supported.
2. Amnesty
3. Increased UN funding
4. Grabbing more land for Federal ownership filled with natural resources - something Marx also supported.
5. Voted for more foreign aid.
6. Voted for most favored nation trading status for China.
7. Federally funded loan guarantees for trade with China.
8. Voted for increased funding the NEA - including p**s Christ artwork
9. $1.2 billion in extra aid to the UN.
10. $166 million in extra funding for the IRS.
11. Voted for GATT/WTO which gave a world body control over U.S. trade in violation of The Constitution.

Newt is a Pelosi “republican.” We have other “newts” like McCain and Graham-nesty who voted for the exec branch (obama) and the military the ability to arrest American citizens on U.S. soil and detain them indefinitely.

This is what NWO/CFR members and supporters like Newt does.

CFR/NWO Newt is the worst choice of the bunch. Heis a Pelosi “republican.”

The only one as bad is Huntsman. The horrible legislation Newt pass when he ran The House is stunning. He is no conservative and is worse than Mitt.

I support Rick Santorum.

Newt = feeding at the incredibly corrupt trough of Fannie & Freddie.

Yes. Newt came in on a conservative tidal wave, and rode it for a while, but he all too soon started showing his lack of any solid moral principles.

I also think Santorum is the best of the bunch, now that Sarah has gone to the sidelines, although I’m not sure if he can get the message out to people, or knock heads together if he is ever in a leadership position.
