House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, phoned President Obama this morning and asked him to send members of his economic team to the Capitol to end the political stalemate and negotiate a path toward a one-year extension of the payroll tax credit. The president declined the offer. “With Sen. Reid having declined to call his members back to Washington this week to join the House in negotiating a full-year extension of the payroll tax cut, the speaker proposed that the president send members of his economic policy team up to Congress to

C’mon Boehner, play the pr game right.

pass a bill a day and each time go before the cameras to say “here’s another tax cut bill - the Senate just needs to pass it”. Every day. Maybe twice a day.

Will the mortgage fees also be added onto the year long deal?

Why aren’t there any spending cuts included in the bill to pay for it?

what about the pipeline deal? what happened with that?

If the Pubs fold it will not be any surprise. It is truly the Party of ‘stupids’.

The democrats always manage to gain the PR advantage and make the republicans look like mean hearted bumblers.

Why dont the Republicans call the democrats bill a huge tax increase on people who want to buy a home and homeowners?

say if they drop the huge tax increases on middle class they will vote yes.

Hey Boehner, just change the Senate Bill end of payroll tax cut date to Dec. 31, 2012, vote on it, and send it back to the US Senate on Christmas Eve.

BTW, cut turncoat, Socialist-Democrat, Senator Son-of-a-Mitch McConnell out of any of your plans, as he is loyal to “Bottleneck” Reid and not to you.

Since the Dems already OWN the PR machine, all the Republicans have to do is bumble, and they’ll be made to look mean.

Boehner and Cantor are world-class bumblers. Tell me even one time where one of Boehner’s great strategeries or stand-offs has ended well for our side. Just one...

My perspective.

Reid leaves a bag of crap on the House doorstep and tells all of his posse to go home.

Boehner says lets negotiate and obummer flips him off.

The media shows this as intolerable inflexibility on the part of the Republicans.

Boehner can outclass them by keeping the House in session, crafting a counter proposal. Then he can say "Where were you, the country needed you and you were out drinking eggnog?"

Boehner won't have the cajones to do it.

I really wish that Mr. Boehner would stop playing the role the Dems have crafted for him: un-compromising, un-caring. un-aware he has been out-maneuvered by dishonest men.

INSTEAD, IMHO, Mr. Boehner should get the House to just pass the 2-month extension bill, word-for-word, so there is no need to “negotiate” anymore.

And THEM, he and his allies need to go on every TV show that will take them to talk about how STUPID Harry Reid’s two-month extension was: it won’t create any new jobs; it wastes time creating an appearance of “negotiating”; it gives workers less than $200 of relief; while doing NOTHING to improve job opportunities for unemployed Americans except for creating construction jobs to build the XL pipeline!

At about the same time as the speaker’s call to the president, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., joined a chorus of GOP senators in calling for Boehner and House Republicans to compromise on a two-month temporary extension to lure Democrats to the conference committee negotiating table on a long-term deal.

Idiot.

Two-Month Payroll Tax Holiday Passed By Senate, Pushed By President, Cannot Be Implemented Properly, Experts Say

Mitch McConnell needs to STFU.
