Republicans continue to ignore the fact that they control only the House, but that Democrats control both the Senate and Presidency.

Do I think passing a 2 month extension is silly? Yep. Does my opinion overcome reality of democrat control of the legislative process? Nope.

I don’t even think that “payroll taxes” are even taxes, so republicans are dumb to even agree to call them taxes. Since they are payments returned at a later date, they should be called installments or something.

The only things they’ll get passed over the objections of the democrats are laws that every single American believes is in their best interest. IOW, they need an American consensus behind their plan before they try to twist arms. The dems need to know that they are flying directly into the face of what the people want and know that they want.

Don’t go and bring logic and common sense into this. Too many folks are having fun blaming a single tea party freshman for not doing enough. Don’t spoil their self righteous party.

They are taxes. They go into the same pot as income taxes, excise taxes, and the rest.

Like all taxes, some get some back, some don't.

Can we ever quit posting this cry baby response. Grow a pair, they control the money which is what they are all there for anyway.

Were the roles reversed, do you think Dems would think that way? Hardly. They would try and roadblock Pubs any way possible and Senate Dems would be lockstep with House Dems. Seriously, Pubs have no spine and I honestly think most care more for their cushy lifestyle than this country. Sick of all of em am I.

The GOP House has no excuse. They proved their spinelessness when they had sole control over raising the debt limit, and caved.

Yes, the Dems have the President and Senate, but the House caves to them and gives them everything they wan’t. They don’t even fight for legislative gridlock anymore. They cave.

Excellent. Boehner’s failure is that he cannot get on message, stay on message and get that message out. In the House, you have a huge disadvantage over the EO, but it isn’t insurmountable.

That’s the singular attraction of Newt for me, his Contract with America realized the trouble Congress, particularly the House, faces. He solved it, but since has drifted all over the place looking for relevancy. He’s not even on the Illinois ballot yet.
