An off-duty police officer has been charged with executing a man in a sports bar - after an argument over a game of darts.
Riverside County sheriff's deputy Dayle Long, 42, allegedly shot Samuel Vanettes, 36, three times, leaving him to die on the floor of the bar in Murrieta, California.

An altercation allegedly broke out after the police officer told one of the friends 'I’m better at darts than you are', Chris Hull, 39, told Patch.com.
'My buddy says, "Aw, you suck at darts". (The man) says, "That’s why I’m a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'
Hull tsaid his friend asked; 'Really, you can do anything?'
The police officer then pulled out his gun, Hull claimed and after the group repeatedly asked him to put it away he 'pops three rounds into my friend Sam'.
The ten-year department veteran appeared at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley in a red prison uniform, on Friday charged with murder.

LOL...And they still become millionaires and people think nothing of it. It really ticks me off because people buy the stocks these pukes like Pelosi dump, not knowing they’ve just been scammed. The stock rises for whatever reason that Pelosi knows about beforehand, before it becomes public knowledge, such as a bill being passed, and when these people buy then it drops when Pelosi dumps and they lose money. But, I remember a time when we didn't need to lock our doors at night, & kids could be kids w/o fear of pedophiles. Murderers were executed quickly, thieves went to jail for a long time, & perverts dare not return to their neighborhoods if they were EVER released from jail, for fear of deadly retribution.
Today, vicious criminals rule the streets. When arrested, they are quickly bailed back on to the streets. When convicted, they get light sentences in comfortable prisons. Many get off Scot free by liberal laws & judges. Cop killers are now heroes in the eyes of many - Mumia Jamal.
Is it any wonder that police have become as cold blooded as the criminals? What kind of personality does one need to patrol the mean streets in a uniform that seems to say, “Don't fear me, shoot me”? How many of us could wear a badge & remain sane in the face of our current Bizarro legal system?
Yes, I would hang Dayle Long 15 minutes after conviction, along with every violent criminal in every jail in America.

There have always been good cops and bad cops....just like any other segment of our population.
Given that, however, this behavior is being promoted among law enforcement. Special rules just for police do not help. They are merely citizens with badges and do not deserve special treatment.

Grant you that, but it's mostly implicit and done on the sly. They don't put their mugs on the nightly news and say, 'I won. I don't believe in this law, so my Justice Department isn't going to enforce it', or 'I have directed so-and-so to do such-and-such' despite the fact that there's no Constitutional authority to take that action.
The President doesn't make laws, the legislature does. At least, that's how the story goes...

THIS really grinds my gears. I find the cops who most often think this way are the roid freaks with the jarhead hairdos who didn't have the stones to do time in the Marines.
The "militarization" of our police forces is out of control, and in my opinion, it is extremely similar to the dynamic in colonial-era Boston in, say, the early 1770s when the British stationed armed soldiers in and around the city to "keep the peace."

I am surprised. My major in college was Criminal Justice and I grew to know and respect many, many police officers, probation officers and correctional officers... even a couple of detectives who leap out of the back of vans to sneak up on drug dealers. Every single one of them love their families, are honest and god-fearing. Each would bravely died in the line of duty to protect anyone here.
When we decided to declare war on a significant portion of the populace, we attracted the wrong type of person to law enforcement.
Just like when we turned government into a criminal enterprise with the Income Tax Amendment we attracted nothing but crooks to political office.
Your last sentence is incorrect. They only need probable cause, not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. They will either develop the proof of murder through a complete investigation or they will make a different finding such as manslaughter(quite likely if the perp was on his lips)or perhaps they’ll find the fool was defending himself against a group assault.
I never give much credence to newspaper stories. They rarely have it right.
If people didn't have illicit drugs to sell they might have to get jobs!
