FORT WORTH - A woman shot and killed an home intruder in her exclusive Fort Worth neighborhood early Thursday morning, according to police.

Officers first received reports of a prowler in the 6700 block of Fortune Road near the Ridglea Country Club about 3:30 a.m.

According to Fort Worth Police Public Information Officer Sharron Neal, the woman, who was home alone, told police that someone rang her doorbell, then broke into her home.

Before she dialed 911, the woman reportedly called her husband, who was away traveling. He advised her to retrieve a gun kept in the home for protection.

Officer Neal said when officers arrived a few minutes later, they found a man inside the home with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old James Green of Fort Worth, was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he later died.

Officer Neal also said the family had recently purchased the home.

Fort Worth police were interviewing the woman at downtown headquarters.

This was reported yesterday by a freeper (GOPyouth) who works with the woman the guy was trying to visit.

I posted the following yesterday:

Did you folks see this thread?

Look at post #6 from GOPyouth, which I copy here: To: George from New England

There was a deadly mistake made upon the deceased. It was truly an accident on his part, and I do not blame the woman who fired.

The deceased man was arriving to see my co-worker. She lives next door to the house, which looks pretty much like her house. He never showed, so she went on to bed. He went next door (thinking it was my co-worker’s house) and knocked, but Wendy obviously didn’t answer. He opened the door and went inside, which is when he was shot. My co-worker didn’t know about this until the media showed up at our work today asking questions.

If that is true, what a sadly fatal mistake to make. He don’t only got himself killed with that stupid decision, he placed an innocent woman in total fear for her life and in the postition of defending herself.

I hope victim keeps it all in proper persepective because 20/20 hindsight in this case, is always going to be painful. Anti-self defenders that she encounters during this period are going to be viscious to her and try to plant as much self condemnation as possible. God help her!

You live in Ridglea Country Club? I’m from FW and went to Western Hills High School.

He was just in the wrong house.

That's for sure. He won't make that mistake again.
