Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

Americans bought record numbers of guns last month amid an apparent surge in popularity for weapons as Christmas presents.

By Nick Allen, Los Angeles

7:17PM GMT 01 Jan 2012

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

On Dec 23 alone there were 102,222 background checks, making it the second busiest single day for buying guns in history.

The actual number of guns bought may have been even higher if individual customers took home more than one each.

Explanations for America's surge in gun buying include that it is a response to the stalled economy with people fearing crime waves. Another theory is that buyers are rushing to gun shops because they believe tighter firearms laws will be introduced in the future.

1. Commander Zero & henchmen arm violent drug cartels in Mexico.

2. They use the violence committed by said cartels to restrict 2nd Amend. Rights of Americans.

3. The Obama administration implements and carries out a plan to assassinate Americans without trial if they appear on a secret list of terrorists.

4. President signs NDAA that allows military to arrest and detain indefinitely, without charges or counsel, anyone deemed to support terrorism, even citizens in the US.

5. DHS releases a report that the Tea Party, Patriot groups, RTL orgs, 2nd Amend. Supporters and Military veterans might be terrorists.

Fear mongering my a$$.

And that’s a reason I still support W. Franklin wasn’t kidding when he said ‘a Republic, if you can keep it’.

We have every Muslim, Commie, greenie, you name it doing everything they need to in concert to bring us down, and take our Republic away from us.

Our kids are taking away the real ‘global’ truth from the Caliphate vs. God-loving America skirmishes.

Wolverines!

On one hand you have a generation of people (mostly Boomers directing “entitlement Millenials’) trying to make “Idiocracy” into the reality and millions of sheep ready to go along and let them. On the other, there are the Iraq/Afgh vets non-entitlement’ Millenials and plenty more all the time not willing to play along, who have actual leadership ability, real world knowledge and no intention of playing nice.

Then throw in the financial collapse/mess.

Ultimately, we win, but it’s going to be “Road Warrior” before that victory comes about.

Because of my work, I know a lot of people in your daughter’s age bracket. I would hazard a guess that their social liberalism is mostly a function of their age, and hope they eventually grow out of it.

I plan to add a .30 caliber long gun and .357 mag revolver to my collection this year that I just know will end up in a horrific boating accident and them sinking to the bottom of the lake. :)

Disarming the citizenry might not be quite as easy as the half dark overlord may happen to think.

In the photo you posted, I wonder why his jacket is pulled down so much on his right side. My guess would be something
heavy in his pocket.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Let’s see: we have the perfect storm of Mayan Prophecy and the horrifying chance that Barack [Downgrade] Obama may retake the presidency.

There’s only one question for those who haven’t bought their first set of guns: WHAT’S TAKING YOU SO LONG!!!

Those of us who already may have taken the plunge may need to buy some more for the second or third time because they sold them privately or they themselves ‘took the plunge’ as so often happens – even in the desert.

And just why would you be taking a rifle and revolver out in a boat? Mmmmm? The only gun one would use is a shotgun for duck hunting.

You do know that this has gotten to be a very old and unamusing kind of post?

Totally agree.

Begin rant ;)
I’m actually a ways through writing a book on critical thought and the lack of it/results thereof, today. As you well know as a teacher, critical thought was among the first casualties in the PC war. The two simply cannot coexist, therefore the libs, via the education system, removed the concept and curriculum from schools.

The Communists said it long ago...”We may not get you, but we’ll get your children” (paraphrased). And so they have.

The modern parent faces a 24/7 onslaught from every quarter designed to make kids think they are insane. Everything we grew up with is considered taboo/wrongheaded/evil/opressive/hateful. Hell, many so called conservatives right here on FR buy into a piece or three of their nonsense from time to time so what chance does a ‘mind of mush’ have?

How can we expect any other outcome? Things the libs preach sound great to a person unable to critically think, even grasp a given issue. Kinda like if you grew up in the middle of the Sahara desert and suddenly saw the Pacific ocean. The mind reels and has nothing to compare it to - no way to make sense of it. That’s what many of the young people today face. They have had a life filled with liberalism from all quarters and simply “know” no other way.

Example - Homosexuality

24/7 coverage/propaganda that Gay is normal/right/good and opposition to it is Hitlerian... at best. TV/movies/music/school/teachers/sports figures/comics/video games...every aspect of society in Liberal America pushes that.

So, unable to critically think it through, the kid says, “Well, 99% of everyone is cool with it and mom and dad aren’t. I have gay friends and I ain’t giving them up so parental units must be nuts just like I’ve been taught.”

They are never taught the problems associated with it, the consequences/deadly outcome et all. Given only one side of the issue (because they are convinced by the above that parents are wrong) and never having been taught to think critically, they cannot process it. It’s like the ocean to the desert dweller.

Now consider that all such liberal propaganda techniques follow that and like paths in all subjects. The end result is an army of likeminded idiots taught from the earliest age to be what they are. Sheep. But then reality, as always, rears its ugly head. They lose a job over an offhanded ‘gay’ comment or that friend dies of aids. Suddenly the bubble pops and they are shocked/hurt/confused/POd.

“How could this happen? TO ME??? I’m special...everyone told me so! Bad things aren’t supposed to happen to me!”

And so the path to a more conservative thought process and critical thinking as a whole begins.

I rant,therefore I is ;)
