(CNSNews.com) – As Iran ratcheted up its rhetoric Thursday about closing the Strait of Hormuz, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul revisited his earlier criticisms of Western policy towards Tehran, adding that Iran would be justified in cutting off the strategic waterway in response to sanctions.

At a campaign event in Iowa Thursday, Paul called Western sanctions imposed against Iran over its nuclear activities “horrendous” and “acts of war,”

Well, they probably would be, but then their navy would be fish habitat shortly thereafter.

One thing most people don’t know: according to the D.O.E., the US’s only major source of oil from the Middle East is Saudi Arabia. Our five largest oil suppliers are 1. Canada, 2. Mexico, 3. Saudi Arabia, 4. Nigeria, and 5. Venezuela. We get zero barrels from Iran. Meanwhile, we must kowtow to the totalitarian regimes of Hugo Chavez and the Ibn Sauds and the ever-corrupt regimes of Mexico.

Which poses the greater threat to the US - the uncontrolled Mexican cartels or the Irani mullahs?

But then, do you realize that Islam is an empire, not a nation state. All the “Nations” of Islam are just heads on the death cults hydra. Most of the Islamic “Nations” specialize on one form of war preparations or another. The are separate Nations only when viewed with the western eye.

Pakistan developed Nukes with Iraq’s scientists, materials and machinery trucked there when we invaded. Syria focuses on poison weapons, Palestinians on suicide commandos etc.

Its all a shell game fueled by the tremendous cash influx of the oil revenue. The State Department plans to socialize the world in a big Qumbyeya wealth transfer cannot concieve of the evil of Islam. Islam is spending all that wealth not to build their civilization but to destroy ours.

Too bad their oil wells are running dry...

I would like to see RP run as 3rd party. I think he would draw more votes away from Obama than the GOP.

FOX posted a poll recently that showed Paul would hand the election to Obama, drawing heavily from the GOP. Might have been a Ras poll, I don't recall with any certainty.

A very interesting point. A savvy GOP (yeah, I know, no such animal) could make great use of a third party Ron Paul run. Point out to the Occupy dimbulbs all of the "right wing" things Obama has done...renewing the Bush tax cuts, keeping Gitmo open, etc....and send a chunk of Zero's already-shrinking base over to the Ron Paul camp. Once they get there and find out that legalizing pot is a Ron Paul campaign plank they'll get the munchies and stay put. Ron Paul could do for the Republican candidate what Ralph Nader did for Bush...draw votes from the demonrat.

How is this guy pulling the numbers he is?

Despite the fact that his foreign policy views are insane, he's the only avowed candidate making sense on domestic issues. The voters are hoping the other candidates will notice how Paul is attracting votes, and decide to adopt (at least some) of his domestic policies.

Should Ron Paul be elected, and the Iranians decide to close the Straits of Hormuz, President Paul would have an epiphany like Jimmy Carter did when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan: "You mean we really do have enemies?" At that point he'd be glad we had more aircraft carriers than the rest of the world put together.

The Barbary Pirates were freedom fighters against the future apartheid state of Israel. Jefferson was a Zionist neocon and a slave to the banksters. Why do you hate the Constitution?

Well played. ;^)

Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are both liberals, but Paul is an anti semite and as far left as Obama and any democrat who blames American citizens first while justifying marxists policies and Islamics terrorists in their hostile power grabs of American Constitutional liberties and monies.
Because the idiots of the GOP have allowed crossover voting in primaries, we now have fools and liberal liars like Paul and Romney and McCain running for President.
And the myth that a conservative must vote for a liberal is a lie that the liberals and rino right both push with through the liberal brain dead media.
I do not believe that the rino liberal left GOP can be cleaned up but that it must be replaced with a conservative party that represents conservatives so that conservative politicians can fight against the liberals of the rino right and the liberals of the marxist God hating perverted left.

At a campaign event in Iowa Thursday, Paul called Western sanctions imposed against Iran over its nuclear activities “horrendous” and “acts of war,”

Ron, are you on Iran's payroll?

When are you going to represent US’ interests instead of Iran's?

It is or should be obvious to USA patriots that Paul is an apologist for Muslims. He probably feels closer to the Koran than to the Bible. It is beyond my reasoning as a Iowa youth that he could have such popularity among the people of Iowa; but then again his popularity could be a large contingent of fellow travelers.

Oh, please. If Paul hasn’t figured out yet who are our enemies and what threat they pose to us, he doesn’t deserve to hold the office. The evidence is available and obvious to any American with 2 brain cells to rub together. And your best hope is your boy having a JIMMY CARTER-like epiphany after a hostile action by Iran? Holy crow! The presidency is far too powerful and the world far too dangerous for on the job training! (as the present Occupier In Chief so amply has demonstrated)
