“Scientists from the Zatar Institute announced today unearthing a cache of historical documents from the early 21st century. The documents are causing a stir throughout the science and history community as the information reveals a rash of suicidal and to put it frankly, insane behavior by the ancients, beginning around the year 2008.
“We are at a loss as to what to make of it,” said Preator Sneed, a member of the ruling council. “It seems that the people of that era quite simply and suddenly lost their minds. There was an experiment with a Supercollider taking place around that time and it is possible that the warping of the spacetime continuum negatively acted upon their cognitive processes.
