And the silky pony laid on the morgue slab with his dead kid and held him.

Shell-less turtle is an idiot who knows nothing about grief or how people deal with it!

Didn’t Steve Jobs die at home, with his family present? Wonder what Alan thought of that?

Last night on American Pickers one of the things they picked were pictures of dead infants and other family members. Photography was expensive enough that you only got one picture, after you were gone. Sometimes they even posed the people so they still looked alive. Alan would go crazy.

After reading more about this incident, my heart goes out to all who have lost a child, it is hard enough losing grandparents, parents and close friends. I can’t imagine the pain of going through the loss of a child.

It is very common for people to go home to die. I would want that as well.

No no no. Randomly quoting bible verses is not a defense.

The Biblical principle here you shouldn’t judge other Christians when there is no reason to. Which is what you did when you claimed thinking sleeping with your dead baby was creepy revealed someone who was part of the culture of death.

The Bible gives us wide latitude on most things. Including the rituals and traditions our different cultures give us to deal with death.

First you judged me and claimed my attitude was superior, when I meant no such thing. I cannot be blamed for having articulate writing; its not the same as a superior attitude.

Secondly you seem to be taking my defense of the pro-life position extremely personally, when, again, no personal attack was launched or intended.

Thirdly you called my answer to your angry challenge “random”, when in fact it takes the Bible from start to finish and gives support to the notions of parents teaching children in the “ways of righteousness”, including an educated acceptance of death and loss, held secure within a family where parents and children may grieve, but their faith is ultimately in the life eternal, where they will all meet again.

You seem to have missed the connection between Santorum’s long history of defending life from abortion and his principled walk with his children at the death of one of their siblings. He was powerfully illustrating that a fetus or a newborn is a whole, entire person, worthy of love and dignity.

Where does the text say “sleeping with your dead baby”? Are you referring to having the body laid out in the house overnight? Already discussed above — a common practice of past generations that supported the family’s direct private acceptance of death without having to pay any professionals to sanitize its emotion and spiritual challenge.

I regret that you feel so personally offended by this, and kindly suggest that this is a time for you to review what may be causing your discomfort. Please accept my condolences, if they may be due to you.

I now wish you a very happy new year, and a respectful farewell.
