-- Times have changed a bit. This is the version I knew at that age ... --

I think the one I knew was different too, something about hand grenades and a loaded .45.

This is one we used to sing:

Joy to the World
The school’s burned down
The teachers are all dead

We’re looking for the principal
He’s hanging on the flagpole
With a rope around his neck
With a rope around his neck
With a ro-ope around his ne-e-eck

It’s amazing to see the variety!

Here was our version:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school
We have tortured all the teachers and we’ve broken every rule
We have beaten (insert name of Principal) in a dirty game of pool
Us kids go marching on

Glory glory hallelujah
Teacher hit me with a ruler
I hid behind the door with a loaded .44
And teacher don’t teach no more!

Also sang:

From the halls of Montezuma to the Shores of PTA
We will fight our teachers battles
With spitballs and with clay
We will fight for more recess
And to keep our desks a mess
We are proud to claim the title
Of teacher’s little pests

Then there was this one:

We are brave we are bold for the liquor we can hold
In the cellar of Murphy’s saloon
We will drink, drink, drink
‘Til we puke up in the sink
Call out the order for More Beer! (More Beer)
We were lying on the floor
When the cops came through the door
In the cellar of Murphy’s saloon

There were song on bus rides for field trips. I’m sure the teachers were thrilled!

Of course we always threw in 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall just to REALLY irritate them!

So they don’t want to censor the little tykes. I wonder if any examples of Christian or patriotic censorship could be documented? Nah! Not possible!!

Government pays for them for a reason.

And how many public school parents are ok with it ? Any protests ? Would there be if this happened frequently in the Midwest, Texas or the Deep South ? It seems like Americans often just do not want to make efforts to take action about these things. it often seems like we really have stopped caring.

Now we know the management of elementary and secondary government schools was surrendered to labor unions. It was to advance a cause other than academic education.

When I was in the 3rd grade, it was the custom for the kids to express their support for one or the other candidate in presidential elections, this being Stevenson or Eisenhower in 1956. Of course, we echoed the sentiments of our parents, in my case my mother, who was an outspoken liberal. I did make an early foray into negative campaigning, though, when I made a sign saying, “EISENHOWER FOR THE TRASH CAN.” Sadly, my pioneering genius went unrecognized and my sign was censored.

Check out the “facilitator” and see what they say. Then ask the kids, individually, who prompted them, and then you will “need a new facilitator”.

Class warfare has now entered the 3rd grade. Time to clean house.

PS: If this was written 4 months ago, even Occupy Wall Street back then couldn’t tell you what they stood for so how could a bunch of 3rd graders? I smell a rat, a red rat, in that school.

LOL..I remember that one! I didn’t know the first verse very well, but the second one I did. The version I learned was similar, but with a twist in the last 2 lines: “I met her at the door with a deadly 44, now there won’t be a teacher anymore, SHUT THE DOOR!”. I think the last 3 words were an afterthought; and besides, it rhymed!
