Read what oldeconomybuyer said in his #94 post to me. That is it EXACTLY. I could forgive Perry his stance but I can't his flaccid brain and grasp of simple facts in a debate. Newt will never make the stumbles and missteps that Perry has. Yeah, Newts got a lot of baggage. So what? Anybody who's been rocking around DC since the 1970s is bound to! He is an old "In-the-trenches" warrior and that is exactly what's needed. He did help build the Reagan revolution and he did balance the budget and he's got a mind like a steel trap, unlike Perry who's just trapped.

Be careful judging Rick Perry. He’s a good man. I just don’t think he was fully prepared for the negative media blitz he received from the moment he announced his candidacy. One of the first attacks was about where his family hunted for the past 30 years. That boggles the mind. Not his stance on taxes, liberty, terrorism, the debt, etc. Where he went hunting! Mr. Perry just wasn’t prepared for a national campaign and unfortunately it showed.

That’s one of the reasons I think Gingrich/Santorum are the best at this stage. They have enough DC experience to expect fire, deal with it, and return fire.
