I have a counter proposal: A 25% pay decrease, a termination of all public monies contributed to all federal pensions, a hiring freeze, the termination of the Dept. of Education and the Dept. of Energy.

It’s a very small increase, after two years of a pay freeze. I think this raise is warranted, particularly for the many federal employees who live in the Washington DC area, which is a very expensive place.

Why not a COLA increase for unemployment?

They do pay your taxes.

This means the vast army of civilian DOD workers (800,000ish) will get a pay increase while the military is being gutted

Pandering to Federal workers for votes.

.5% will be gobbled up by the increased medical costs due to benefit decreases and then some.

No thanks.

Government workers already make, on average, 30% more than the private sector worker. Yes, Washington is expensive so is San Francisco, New York, etc.

Libtards like increasing government spending even if it is for parasites like government bureaucrats that are paid to decrease the freedom of private producers.

Republican politicians must not have ever bought a car. Here’s a Republican politician negotiating a new car deal.

“What’s the price on this one?”
“Well, Senator, it’s $30,000.”
“Would you take $50,000? If not, I can give you $70,000.”

Here’s what the Republican response should be.
“You can have 10% of the salary of every civilian federal employee that is laid-off to use for a raise for the rest.”

Cut pay and all benefits by 10%.

If there are vacancies for which there are no qualified applications. For those positions, raise pay by 5%.

Repeat by lowering pay an additional 10%, until the true market pay for each position is found.

Raises for within-grade step increases and promotions have continued during the freeze

There you go. If my local school system is any guide, these "step increases" are actually a guaranteed raise of 2-3% per year regardless of any other raises.

FACT

It’s the government higher ups that are making the big, unrealistic money and benefits. The common folk blue collar fed workers are actually paid less than comparable private sector workers.
