Rick Perry Unwinds Before New Hampshire Debate At Texas Shooting Range

Ready, aim fire. That’s apparently Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s idea of relaxation before returning to the campaign trail this weekend. Ahead of Saturday night’s ABC News-Yahoo-WMUR debate in New Hampshire Perry took a few moments to himself at an Austin-area shooting range.

“Just relaxing a bit @ Red’s Range before we leave for New Hampshire!” @governorperry tweeted Friday along with a photo of himself wearing a green sweatshirt and a baseball cap with a firearm in hand.

On the campaign trail, Perry, a staunch defender of second amendment rights, has not been shy about talking about his “long love affair” with guns.

“It was a long love affair with a boy and his gun that turned into a man and his gun, and it turned into a man and his son and his daughter and their guns,” Perry told reporters before a pheasant hunting trip with Iowa Rep. Steve King in October. “It’s, I think, one of the great American traditions is taking your family hunting.

And Perry often boasts about the time he allegedly shot a coyote who threatened his daughter’s dog while on a morning run.

“You know the second amendment allows me to go to jogging with my daughter’s dog over here and if it coyote comes out, I can take care of it,” Perry said at the Des Moines Register Soapbox at the Iowa State Fair in August.

In a 2010 KTRK interview during his gubernatorial race, Perry called the shooting range “my golf.”

Santorum was polling 1% in Iowa. Stop the silliness and actually pay attention to the fact that he is the only conservative with executive experience and an economic record to contrast with Obama.

If you want to remain here, turn it down a couple of notches. Your bashing of the other candidates is way over the top.

Could you imagine a photo-op of Romney shooting? He’d make John Kerry look like a Navy SEAL by comparison.

” This is why we must help along both Ricks and Newt until Mittens is under 20%. By uniting now, romney has no chance. “ <<<

I keep hearing that until we winnow it down to where Romney can be taken on, one on one, that his poll numbers can and will continue to inch upward. So far, that seems to be true about the Romney poll number. It is to Romney’s machine a great advantage having no one able to emerge among the trio alligned against him as a serious threat, in national polls. I get, upon occasion, very scared that’s true.

” I have done my best to try to keep Romney from being the nominee.. I voted last time in SC for Thompson because I didn’t want Romney, MCCain or Huckabee. “

“They say”, because of Thompson staying in too long is the reason Huckabee couldn’t knock ROMNEY out in ‘08. Of course, that is straight out of the Huckabee camp for sure but is it true, and can it happen this time for Romney’s advantage?

But a vote for Lazy Fred was a vote for his buddy, McCain.

Among Conservatives AND among Evangelicals — the exit polls showed Huck dominated among those two groups.

Freddy siphoned off barely enough to cause fellow conservative Huck to lose by three.

Resulting in our worse nominee EVER! Mushy moderate/liberal McLame.

Good job. (not) Think before you vote.

“They” being 1000% CORRECT : )

A naive vote for Lazy Fred was a vote for his buddy, McCain.

Among Conservatives AND among Evangelicals — the exit polls showed Huck dominated among those two groups.

Freddy siphoned off barely enough to cause fellow conservative Huck to lose by three.

Resulting in our worse nominee EVER! Mushy moderate/liberal McLame handing the presindeny to OBAMA. Thanks. (not)

you know what that is an idiotic statement.. I think very carefully before I vote.. I didn’t want Huckaphony, McCain or Romney so I voted the correct way..

I voted for the most Conservative person running in the second primary of the election and it was hoped a good SC showing from Thompson could have put him in the first level... Thompson had a terrific last debate in Myrtle Beach and he ended up third beating out Romney.. it was up to the later primary voters to go for Huckabee if they wanted since it was wittled down to two but they didn’t want him either
