Tonight on Coast to Coast Ian Punnet will be interviewing Dr. Roger Roots on the fully informed jury movement.

This one could be a real barn-burner!!

If some dude has to call in, he ain’t way up there on the telepathy skill set!!

The entire Coast-to-Coast staff have the best tin foil headgear available. It provides at least 30 dB of brain shielding and Mr. Telepathy isn't getting through unless he in in the room next to the studio. The telephone is easier.

Sounds like what happened to a gal I know.

She was asked during voir dire (which literally afaik means “See what they will say”) whether if the judges instructions conflicted with her instincts, could she ignore her instincts and follow the instructions?

She basically told him no way in hell would I ignore my instincts, I have to at least be honest with myself.

She was immediately bumped and allowed to go home.

>>On another trial the jury pool was asked during voir dire whether any of us had heard of jury nullification.<<

Well, seems to me that this should be the outlawed question if we are to ever “judge the law,” because that question, answered honestly, rules out everyone who becomes informed on the issue.

The Institute for Justice should look for someone who’s been denied the opportunity to sit on a jury based upon the answer to that question, and run it all the way back up to the Supreme Court. A ruling that such a question is not permitted could be the eventual result.

I’m betting there’s a bunch of Californians faced with finding car seats for their 8 year olds who keep thinking, “I just want a jury of my peers on this one.”

How about ALL presidential candidates should at the very least be asked in one of the many "debates" for their opinion on whether a criminal jury should consider just the facts of the case, or the facts and the law?

(I haven't peeked, but have a hunch just where five of the six R candidates will come down on this.)

I don’t understand the aversion to opinion or information presented on C2Cam. There is a lot of truth on the program, along with the nuts. ONLY through complete freedom to present controversial subjects for listeners, can we ascertain the pulse of the country, or the depth of current events.

Completely agree.

You get to hear the weird and the wonderful and decide for yourself.
