. . . So Mitt Romney eked out a win in Iowa. He'll probably win New Hampshire, too, but I can't see him taking South Carolina.
In the end, he's likely to get the nomination, but it may not be pretty.
Newt Gingrich, for starters, is so bitter over what the establishment did to him in the weeks before the corn state caucuses that his goal now is to defeat whomever the big shots support.
The question is going to be: Will Romney consider Rick Santorum for VP? The conservatives will settle for that.

One of the most glaring of many incorrect statements and assumptions in the article, this sets the tone for it.
Romney has one pat to victory for the nomination (a huge loss for us) ... if the Conservative vote splits.
And if he wins the nomination, he will be slaughtered in the press for months and eviscerated in the general election. Sorry Mittens, those 4 Electoral votes from Utah just ain’t gonna cut it.
Hey Zombie Media! The narrative is that Romney will win the nomination. Rinse. Repeat.
I would paint Newt as resolved and out to claw his way over their carcasses to attain the top instead of being "bitter". I think he will do us all a favor as he tries to dismantle Romney and he may even attain his goal.
Settling. That's what it's come down to. The best we can do is "settle"???? Not.
I won’t settle for of vote for any ticket that has Romney on it in either position unless it has Sarah Palin at the top. Romney as president would only accelerate the rush to the Total State and any candidate (other than Sarah) that would put him at VP has a serious problem with judgment and would be entirely too manipulable.
VP means NOTHING. VP has no power.
If Romney wins SC it will only be because of vote splitting.
If Perry (especially) and Newt would do the right thing and quit then Romney will lose, period.
