2009: Ron Paul cites 'tragedy of Gaza' [Palestinians have been ripped off, on Iranian TV]

In interview with Iranian TV 3 years ago, Republican candidate condemns Israel's conduct in Gaza and US-Israel "special relationship,"

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul condemned Operation Cast Lead as an "atrocious massacre," when speaking with Iranian Television in 2009.

Criticizing former President George W. Bush, who was in power at the time, Paul said, "but I think we encourage it. Certainly the president did nothing to diminish it."

"He justifies it on moral grounds... says they have a right to it without ever mentioning the tragedy of Gaza, and the real problems there," he said.

"To me I look at it like a concentration camp.. people are making home-made bombs. Like they're the agressors?" Paul asked rhetorically.

In further criticism of both Israel's conduct and US policy he stated that Israel didn't have the motivation to resolve the conflict "because they know we'll back them up," he continued. "They know we'll do whatever is necessary to bail then out."

Paul concluded that the US would be much better off ending its special relationship with Israel, which he said "has increased anti-US sentiment around the world."

Commenting further on the Israeli- Palestinian conflict he stated that "neither side is ready to talk."

"If Israel has a problem, they have to deal with it. I don't think it should be any of our business. If i personally favor one side or the other, its academic. Because politically I don't want to do be involved. I want to say... well, I think the Palestinians have been ripped off..and therefore all the blame is on Israel. I can have a personal opinion, but politically my position is that America would be much better off if we just minded our own business ," he asserted.

In my opinion when a Congressman goes on foreign TV and slams the US and a US ally on not just foreign TV, but Iranian TV, the opinions are not personal. If he was a Dixie Chick, people would be outrages. Video at the JP link

Most Americans don’t share Paul’s concern for the hateful Palestinkians.

The Palestinians were a group of lowlifes fighting Jourdan with Arafat as their leader. 27,000 of them were killed by Jordanians and pushed them into Israel.

He’s always acting as an apologist for America’s enemies, so it’s not a surprise that he does it to one of our allies, too. I mean this guy thought bin Laden didn’t deserve what he got. Run Paul thinks Bradley Manning, the spy and traitor who gave away more US secrets than anyone ever has done, is a hero. Run Paul is the lowest politician in US Congress. No prominent American politician has ever badmouthed America more, not even Obama.

Actually the fled to Lebanon where they destroyed the country. One of Reagan's mistakes, intervening to save civilian lives, but also to save the PLO and Arafat's behinds. Plenty of other terrorists, but the world could have been done with them then.

Maybe. My guess lots of the occupy types won’t bother to vote, but it could be a factor with that small 1% of 1%, if that many. The paulistinians will vote Paul. Plenty of liberal crossing over know what they’re doing, they’ll vote for O, not Paul. My guess a 3rd party run makes it easier for Obama. If he supports pop, kills Rands future in the GOP. For that reason, I suspect he won’t.
