The Soviet Union's stated goal was to wipe the United States, capitalism, freedom, and ice cream sandwiches off the map. Didn't happen, thanks to a little thing called Mutually Assured Destruction.
Now, that's not to say I don't think Iran poses a credible threat, and deserves watching, doing something about, etc., etc. But let's not overdo this here. We've been to this dance before, and we've went home with the prom queen.
Please explain how citing Iran's stated goal of wiping Israel, Washington DC and New York City "off the map" is "overdoing" it. These are exactly the targets Amminedjad named.

That's pre 9-11-01 thinking, and look where that got us: more than 3,200 dead, Twin-Towers destroyed, the Pentagon attacked, and countless familie's lives completely disrupted or destroyed as a result.
